Sen. Tom Cotton roasted the establishment media for ignoring credible allegations of corruption involving business deals between the family of Joe Biden and foreign governments including China after spending years chasing the “Russian collusion hoax” that ensnared President Donald Trump.

Cotton was referencing bombshell reports by the New York Post last week citing materials including emails alleging, among other things, that Hunter Biden leveraged his family name and his former vice president father’s political connections for personal financial gain, and kicked a portion of his earnings back to the current Democratic presidential nominee.

In the aftermath of those stories, the major social media platforms including Google, Facebook, and Twitter intentionally reduced the reach of the stories or censored them outright, claiming the allegations could not be corroborated. In addition, several establishment media outlets claimed, without evidence, that the allegations — which stemmed from data extracted from a laptop Hunter Biden abandoned at a computer repair shop in Delaware — were part of a Russian disinformation campaign.

Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe shot down the alleged Russian connection last Sunday, saying clearly “the intelligence community doesn’t believe that because there is no intelligence that supports that.”

In an interview Friday with CNBC, Cotton discussed the social media’s censorship of the allegations — Twitter locked the New York Post out of its account and, as of this writing, the outlet’s last tweet was Oct. 14 — as well as the regular media’s lack of interest in them.

“Squawk Box” co-host Joe Kernan asked the Arkansas Republican what would be the best way to move forward on the allegations if “a lot of media isn’t interested” in them.

“Who’s gonna do it, senator?” Kernan asked.

“Well, the best way to do it…is more reporting, not having big tech oligarchs censor the New York Post,” Cotton said, adding that the Post “had many emails” on Hunter Biden’s alleged business dealings.

“Maybe those are not authentic, maybe they are, I don’t know,” Cotton continued. “I mean, I would note that Hunter Biden and the Biden campaign have not denied their authenticity, it’s kinda like the dog that didn’t bark.

“But, you would think that most news organizations would be committed to breaking news, that they would want to dig into deeper, they would want to explain exactly what they found as opposed to what the big tech companies did, censor it and most of the mainstream media trying to suppress it to the greatest extent they can until Nov. 3,” Cotton said.

He went on to note that the allegations won’t simply disappear if Joe Biden wins the White House.

“There’s still going to be questions about whether Joe Biden, his family, and the administration is exposed to pressure from China,” the Republican senator added, referencing claims about Joe and Hunter Biden being involved in business dealings with Chinese firms that have ties to the Communist government.

“It’s the exact same thing that Democrats have accused Donald Trump of facing for four years without any evidence, so we have to get to the bottom of these things” regardless of who wins after Nov. 3, said Cotton.

“The media’s not doing this country any favors by essentially ignoring this story.”

The show’s other co-host, Andrew Ross Sorkin, then claimed that news agencies were not covering the allegations because they could not corroborate them. He also said in a lengthy pushback said Cotton “wouldn’t want” the tech companies operating without Section 230 liability protections “to be reporting something that they couldn’t corroborate, no?”

“Do you mean like the Russian collusion hoax and the Steele Dossier that you reported on for four years Andrew?” Cotton responded.

Sorkin, visibly caught off guard, swallowed hard before pushing back.

The co-host tried to claim that the establishment media continued reporting on the collusion charges because there were investigations underway into them, unlike the Biden allegations.

But Cotton wasn’t buying.

“Andrew, you and outlets like CNN and The New York Times obsessively reported about the Steele Dossier, which was an obvious fabrication,” he said.

“There’s a clear double standard here being applied to Donald Trump versus Joe Biden,” he said.
