Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden blasted Wisconsin Republican Sen. Ron Johnson and “henchman” Rudy Giuliani over allegations of corruption involving him and his son Hunter Biden during an interview with local media Tuesday.

“Wisconsin’s Republican Senator Ron Johnson put out a statement — on Homeland Security letterhead — saying Hunter Biden, together with other Biden family members, profited off the Biden name. Is there any legitimacy to Senator Johnson’s claims?” WISN reporter Adrienne Pedersen in Wisconsin asked the former vice president toward the end of the interview.

“None whatsoever,” Biden responded. “This is the same garbage Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s henchman, it’s a last-ditch effort in this desperate campaign to smear me and my family.”

Biden went on to claim that Senate committees have looked into the allegations and have not identified any problems.

“The former nominee for the Republican Party said there’s no basis to this,” Biden continued, a reference to Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah, whose name he couldn’t recall.

Biden also said, without context or evidence, that “the vast majority” of the U.S. intelligence community have said “there’s no basis at all” for the allegations.

“Ron should be ashamed of himself,” he added.

In fact, two Senate committees — one chaired by Johnson and the other by Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) — have uncovered a great deal of evidence linking Hunter Biden and his business associates to foreign entities including some controlled by the Chinese government.

In a report released last month, Johnson and Grassley alleged as well that the Obama administration “ignored clear warning signs about ethical conflicts and possible extortion risks involving Joe Biden’s family.”

A number of “Suspicious Activity Reports” were generated by the Treasury Department flagging millions of dollars paid out from Burisma Holdings, the Ukrainian energy firm where Hunter Biden sat as a board member. In addition, the transactions involved Yelena Baturina, a Russian oligarch, and a Chinese businessman with links to the country’s Communist government, according to the 87-page report.

“The Treasury records acquired by the Chairmen show potential criminal activity relating to transactions among and between Hunter Biden, his family, and his associates with Ukrainian, Russian, Kazakh and Chinese nationals,” it adds.

The report states that Obama administration officials “knew” Hunter’s board position was “problematic” and that it disrupted “the efficient execution of policy with respect to Ukraine.”

“The report raises serious questions that former Vice President Biden needs to answer. There are simply too many potential conflicts of interest, counterintelligence and extortion threats to ignore,” Johnson subsequently told Just the News.

Last week, the New York Post reported that, according to information gleaned from a laptop Hunter Biden took to a Delaware computer repair shop and then abandoned last year, he gives half of whatever he makes using the Biden family name to his father.

“All during the time that I’ve been disrespected, I’ve been the one who has supported this family for 30 years, and unlike pop I’m not going to require you to give half of your salary to me,” said an email quoted by Giuliani purportedly from Hunter Biden to his daughter, Naomi.

Joe Biden, meanwhile, has barely been questioned about the stunning allegations.

On Friday, two days after the initial Post report, he was finally asked, broadly, about the allegations, but the former VP attacked the CBS correspondent, Bo Erikson, instead.

“I know you’d ask it,” Biden shot back. “I have no response, it’s another smear campaign, right up your alley, those are the questions you always ask.”

But, as top conservative talker Mark Levin noted on his Tuesday broadcast, Biden has not had to answer specific questions regarding the allegations, such as whether the laptop in question is actually Hunter’s computer and whether a signature on a work order for the computer repair shop is his son’s signature.

In an interview Tuesday with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson, liberal British journalist Piers Morgan blasted the American media for not pressing Joe Biden further on the allegations, which he said should not be a partisan issue.
