In what could be another warning sign for Senate Democrats and their ineffective theatrics against Judge Amy Coney Barrett, a new poll shows support rising for the Supreme Court nominee.
While Democrats have repeatedly tried to block the confirmation of President Trump’s pick to fill the seat vacated by the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, it seems members of their own party have been moving toward a more positive view of the appellate court judge.
A new Morning Consult/Politico poll shows that nearly a quarter of Democrats surveyed think the Senate needs to move ahead with confirming Barrett. And the number of Democrats supporting her confirmation has steadily gone up since Trump nominated her late last month.
The Oct. 9-11 survey showed an increase of two percentage points as 48 percent of registered voters now believe that Barrett should be confirmed.

“The level of support for Barrett’s nomination, an increase of 11 points since President Donald Trump announced her nomination on Sept. 26, also compares favorably with public sentiment toward Justice Brett Kavanaugh prior to the first day of his confirmation hearings in September 2018,” Morning Consult’s Cameron Easley explained, adding that “a larger share of Republicans and Democrats are voicing support for Barrett’s nomination than they did for Kavanaugh’s” at this point.
“By an 8-point margin, voters say that the Senate should vote on Barrett’s nomination as soon as possible, rather than wait to see if the president can defeat Democratic nominee Joe Biden on Election Day,” Easley noted.

“There is zero chance that ACB is not confirmed given these numbers,” Twitter user and self-proclaimed “NumbersMuncher” Josh Jordan tweeted along with a graphic showing the rising support for Barrett.

Democrats’ hopes of tripping up Barrett have failed as she continues to hold her own under hours of scrutiny by the Senate Judiciary Committee. Failing to get anything to stick to the nominee, Democrats have decried the confirmation process as a “sham.”
Sen. Ted Cruz shredded his Democratic colleagues over their tantrums in comments on Thursday.
“I recognize that our Democratic friends wish a different president had been elected in 2016,” the Texas Republican said. “I’m sympathetic to those arguments. I recognize that our Democratic friends wish there was a Democratic majority in the Senate. But the voters decided otherwise and so this committee moving forward is consistent with over 200 years of history and precedent.”
And it seems many voters are in agreement.
