Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer joined a coven of angry Democrats urging the GOP-controlled Senate to delay the Supreme Court confirmation hearing of Judge Amy Coney Barrett, citing the coronavirus infections of President Trump and Senators Mike Lee and Thom Tillis.

However, Senator Lindsey Graham — the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee –shot down Schumer’s demand, and said he’ll hold the hearings on October 12 as scheduled. Graham noted that he had tested negative for COVID and will proceed with Senate business.

Graham tweeted: “After being informed of [Mike Lee’s] positive test, and out of an abundance of caution, I was tested for COVID-19 in South Carolina. I was informed I was negative. I feel fine and look forward to the hearing for Judge Amy Coney Barrett on Oct. 12.”

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell also reiterated that Judge Barrett’s confirmation hearing will move forward as planned.

Lindsey Graham was reacting after Schumer and Democrat Sen. Dianne Feinstein shrieked that it’s too “dangerous” to proceed with the confirmation hearings, even though they were going to be done by videoconference.

Schumer tweeted: “We now have two members of the Senate Judiciary Committee who have tested positive for COVID, and there may be more. I wish my colleagues well. It is irresponsible and dangerous to move forward with a hearing, and there is absolutely no good reason to do so.”

Senators Thom Tillis and Mike Lee confirmed yesterday that they had tested positive for COVID and will self-isolate for 10 days.

However, both Tillis and Lee say they are asymptomatic so far and can participate in the hearing via videoconference.

As BizPac Review reported, President Trump and first lady Melania Trump both tested positive for COVID. The news ignited glee among the left, with many disgracefully wishing death on the Trumps.

President Trump checked into the Walter Reed Military Medical Center yesterday evening (Oct. 2) for further monitoring.

Shortly afterward, Trump’s physician, Dr. Sean Conley, issued a statement saying the President is doing well and has started treatment.

Dr. Conley said: “This evening, I am happy to report that the President is doing very well. He is not requiring any supplemental oxygen, but in consultation with specialists, we have elected to initiate Remdesivir therapy. He has completed his first dose and is resting comfortably.”

President Trump confirmed on Twitter that he is well: “Going well, I think! Thank you to all. LOVE!!!”

Fox News anchor Bret Baier said the recent COVID outbreak has been a major curveball, but the confirmation hearing could continue without disruption, despite Democrats’ objections.

“If the full recovery happens and they have the negative tests [after self-isolation], they could start the hearings [Oct. 12],” Baier told Fox News host Sean Hannity. “You also don’t need a quorum to start [hearings]. They would need to be there to vote. So they could attend remotely. But the fact that this is even factoring in shows you how much COVID-19 is a part of this election and has changed the dynamic.”

Baier said there’s no doubt that COVID has derailed President Trump’s ability to hold MAGA rallies, but that’s hardly the death knell for his campaign.

“The president obviously will be off the trail,” Baier said. “That’s a tough thing for the Trump campaign, but they have surrogates.”

Baier underscored that President Trump still has plenty of time to recover and participate in the second presidential debate, which is scheduled for Oct. 15 in Miami.
