Some of President Trump’s fiercest critics took the moral high ground after his announcement that he and First Lady Melania Trump had tested positive for COVID-19.
News of the diagnosis sparked a disgusting display from the left with anything but well wishes for the Trumps. And while the celebratory reactions from the president’s critics may not have been surprising, the kind words and thoughts from some of them were certainly a refreshing change.
“Tonight, FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!” the president tweeted in the early Friday hours.
Leftists celebrated the news and unloaded an appalling array of hateful messages wishing for him not to recover. Even The Washington Post earned rebukes after a headline that wondered about life in America without Trump.

But not everyone was tap-dancing over the coronavirus diagnosis, and they soon reached out with encouraging remarks.
New York’s Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who frequently sparred with the president over the coronavirus pandemic, expressed his wishes for the couple’s “speedy recovery.”
My thoughts are with President Trump and the First Lady and I wish them a full and speedy recovery.
This virus is vicious and spreads easily.
Wear a mask. Let’s all look out for each other.

“We sincerely pray the President & the First Lady do not have the worst of this disease,” left-wing civil rights activist Jesse Jackson tweeted. “We must all pray for the full recovery of the President& his wife. For whatever religious or political persuasion you may be, we must all pray as millions of people are affected by this disease.”

“God bless the president and the first lady,” MSNBC host Rachel Maddow wrote on Twitter. “If you pray, please pray for their speedy and complete recovery — and for everyone infected, everywhere.”
“This virus is horrific and merciless — no one would wish its wrath on anyone,” the frequent Trump critic added.

This virus is horrific and merciless — no one would wish its wrath on anyone.
We must get its spread under control. Enough.

British journalist Piers Morgan admitted that he had been highly critical of the president’s handling of the pandemic but he slammed those who posted shameful comments while offering his own sentiments in a tweet.
Nobody’s been more critical of Trump over covid than me. But I don’t want him or his wife to die from it. Those who do are despicable. https://t.co/Ii72dGJZA3

Though it wasn’t exactly a prayer and a hug from liberal actress Alyssa Milano, the Trump-hater tweeted that she wouldn’t wish COVID on her “worst enemy.”
As someone who has had #COVID19 and still suffers from post-covid syndrome, I can honestly say with all that I am that I wouldn’t wish this virus on my worst enemy.
Please wear a mask.

A former advisor to President Barack Obama wished the president and first lady “a complete and speedy recovery.”
“Nothing about this election changes, but our empathy for them, as for all who suffer from this virus, should guide our thoughts, words, and deeds,” former U.S. ambassador to Israel, Dan Shapiro, wrote.
Even former Democratic presidential candidates offered their wishes for the Trumps.

And of course, the president’s Democratic opponent Joe Biden also passed on a message to his 2020 rival.
Jill and I send our thoughts to President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for a swift recovery. We will continue to pray for the health and safety of the president and his family.

Biden’s vice presidential nominee wrote that she and her husband were keeping “the entire Trump family” in their thoughts.

Michigan’s Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said she is “wishing the president and first lady a speedy recovery.”
“COVID-19 is the most dangerous public health crisis America has faced in 100 years. It is still present in our communities. It is still spreading. And people are still dying from it every single day,” Whitmer said in a statement. “This virus doesn’t care if you’re rich or poor, a Republican or a Democrat, young or old. No one is immune. Not even the president.”
“Wishing the President and First Lady a speedy recovery from this dangerous coronavirus,” Democratic Whip Sen. Dick Durbin tweeted.

Democratic Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms also sent her well-wishes.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the First Family, and all suffering with the Coronavirus. A COVID-19 diagnosis is unsettling, and even more so when a loved one also tests positive. Derek and I wish the First Family a speedy recovery.
