A father of three shielded his kids by throwing his body on top of them on the floor as shots suddenly rang out in a Bronx, N.Y., car dealership showroom and glass shattered everywhere on Monday night, September 21, in surveillance video footage that has gone viral.
The brave dad, an innocent bystander identified by multiple media outlets as Anthony Jefferson, suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. First-responders rushed him to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and subsequently released. None of the kids were harmed, fortunately. Watch the disturbing video of the incident embedded below.
“Jefferson, 39, was sitting with his kids on a blue couch in the dealership’s waiting area about 7:20 p.m. Monday when two hooded gunmen dressed in black stormed into the building and opened fire at a man in a white shirt and tan pants with an arm in a sling,” the New York Daily News explained. “The gunmen’s target, who was just a few feet away from Jefferson, pulled out a gun he had hidden in his sling and fired back at the suspects, hitting both the couch and the protective dad, police said Wednesday.
Authorities reportedly believe that the gunfight was gang-related and that the shooters were allegedly targeting a rival gang member who was doing business at the dealership.

Jefferson and his family were only on the scene at the time because he was a potential customer intending to surprise his wife with a new car for her birthday.
The incident occurred at the On The Road Automotive Group, Inc., in the Eastchester neighborhood of the Bronx.
Another angle of the harrowing scene of the hero dad can be viewed below:
The suspects allegedly carjacked another vehicle, a green Honda Civic with Georgia plates, and fled the area after the shooting. The NYPD is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects.
Jefferson’s wife Danica told the New York Post that “And I cried every time [watching the video], just to know that my children were involved and it could’ve went way worse. I definitely appreciate him, his act in which he did to protect our children.”
She added that the kids are temporarily staying with relatives and her husband is recovering in the home of an aunt.
As quality of life deteriorates, longtime residents move away, and businesses close permanently, crime in New York City, especially gun violence, is surging. Far-left Mayor Bill de Blasio’s response to the crime wave is to cut $1 billion from the police budget.
