5 shot at Brooklyn street fest, including 6-year-old, as crime soars amid ‘Defund the Police’ mania

New York City has become a killing field for black people, thanks to the Democrats/Black Lives Matter’s race-baiting demonization of police.

This weekend, five people were shot—including a 6-year-old boy—in Crown Heights, Brooklyn during an outdoor Caribbean festival called J’Ouvert. All five victims are expected to survive.

Crown Heights, which is 74% black, is most famous for the 1991 race riots fomented by Democrat grifter Al Sharpton.

This weekend’s shootings occurred at 3 a.m. in Brooklyn, where 300 people had gathered for a West Indian Day celebration. A 6-year-old boy got caught in the crossfire.

“The boy, his mom was carrying him. You could see there was blood in his pants,” a witness told the New York Post. “She dropped him. Then I saw tons of blood.”

Another innocent bystander—a woman—was shot in the foot.

“A woman was walking around saying, ‘I’m shot in the foot.’ I was holding her foot,” the witness recounted. “It was really crazy.”

Thanks to Democrats/Black Lives Matter’s scapegoating of police and white people, liberal cities across America have descended into lawlessness.

NYC—which was once the “safest big city in America”—has posted record shooting deaths after Democrat lawmakers like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez pushed to defund the police.

In June, the NYPD’s entire plainclothes anti-crime unit was disbanded. And in July, $1 billion was cut from the NYPD’s budget.

The result has been an unprecedented spike in murders across New York City’s five boroughs, notably in black neighborhoods.

The Democrats continue to support Black Lives Matter’s anti-police, anti-white hysteria, even though law enforcement officials warned them of the deadly impact their false narrative will have on blacks.

Pulling police back from black neighborhoods emboldens lawless thugs and endangers the safety of law-abiding residents.

Former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik blasted Democrat New York governor Andrew Cuomo and NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio.

Kerik said Democrat lawmakers’ decision to pull police back and cede the streets to violent thugs is a gross dereliction of duty to law-abiding New Yorkers.

“New York City is burning! Where are you? Where is the New York state police?” Kerik asked. “We already know that de Blasio is incompetent. We know he is a left-wing radical.”

Kerik underscored that the false narrative being promoted by Democrats, Black Lives Matter and their media lapdogs is left-wing propaganda designed to sow racial division.

In reality, FBI data show that black men are more likely to be killed by other black men — or by black cops — not by white cops.

“Nineteen unarmed WHITE people were shot and killed by the police last year,” Kerik said. “NINE were black. Everybody is talking about the blacks that were unarmed and killed by the police, saying ‘That number is systemic!’ But there were 89 cops killed in this country in the line of duty last year. Nobody is talking about them.”
