CNN anchor Brooke Baldwin was called out for her fawning on-air praise of Joe Biden during his visit to Wisconsin.
Baldwin was slammed on social media for lacking journalistic integrity and practically playing the role of press secretary for the Democratic presidential nominee during CNN’s coverage of his trip to Kenosha on Thursday.

“Fine piece of Biden surrogacy here from CNN’s Brooke Baldwin,” Media Research Center Latino director Jorge Bonilla tweeted.
Baldwin cut into CNN’s coverage of Biden as he met with Kenosha community leaders and the family of Jacob Blake, whose death after a police shooting sparked violent protests and rioting in the town. Biden decided to emerge from his basement hideout to visit Kenosha after President Trump made a stop there Tuesday to meet with law enforcement and business owners.
“You can hear him addressing, you know, point by point by point on his notes, you know, just questions, concerns from folks there who have been able to speak up about their children and education and mental health and the prison system,” Baldwin said.
The “CNN Newsroom” host went on to note Biden’s remarks about what inspired his presidential run as he commented on the events that transpired in Charlottesville in 2017.
“When Joe Biden announced that he wanted to run for president, what did he say? He wants to fight for the soul of this nation and that is precisely what he is trying to do in making his case to become the next president of the United States,” Baldwin told viewers.
The unabashed praise raised eyebrows on Twitter.
“Damn, @BrookeBCNN, you should announce your plans to leave @CNN and take a job in a Biden administration now. Would feel good to get it out of the way early,” radio host Derek Hunter tweeted.
“This could have been a riff from one of the nightly hosts at the Democratic convention,” National Review editor Rich Lowry wrote on Twitter.
“Here is @BrookeBCNN standing in for the @JoeBiden campaign for CNN,” the Reagan Battalion tweeted. “Do you call this news, @brianstelter?”

Baldwin was not the only example of the mainstream media covering for Biden and his trip to the Wisconsin city as coverage earlier in the week had repeatedly slammed Trump’s visit.
“Despite local officials telling him to postpone his trip, President Trump in Kenosha, Wisconsin, today, touring a building destroyed in protests after the police shooting of Jacob Blake. Met by supporters and protesters, he pushed his law and order message,” reporter Alex Perez complained on ABC’s World News Tonight on Tuesday, according to Media Research Center.
NBC Nightly News’ White House correspondent Geoff Bennett claimed that the president ignored “pleas from local officials that he stay away” because he wanted to push his “hardline law and order campaign message.”
White House correspondent Paula Reid reported back on CBS Evening News that night that Trump “visited here today, over objections from local leaders.”
Despite actual objections that were raised over Biden’s subsequent trip, as Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers had asked for time for the community to heal, the media chose to focus on how successful his outreach was and what a “contrast” to Trump’s trip.
“Joe Biden found a much different atmosphere here in Kenosha than the president found just two days ago,” CBS’s Mola Lenghi reported. “As you mentioned, their visits were a contrast in mood and in message. It was a quieter trip for the former Vice President, without the same anxiety or excitement that met the President here two days ago.”
“Joe and Jill Biden arriving in Kenosha to do what they say President Trump could not do, help that scarred city heal,” NBC White House reporter Peter Alexander said.
Though there was an obvious double standard in many of the week’s reports, Baldwin’s blatant praise of the Democrat earned her plenty of deserved backlash.
So she’s working for his campaign now, it seems.
