Fox News host Tucker Carlson seemed to relish the idea of exposing a “shocking” recorded conversation between CNN’s Chris Cuomo and former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen.

Carlson teased the bombshell details Friday of a tape recording which has been reportedly “floating around” for some time, giving “Tucker Carlson Tonight” viewers an almost giddy laugh of expectation as he promised to share more on his show next week.

“Television is a famously phony medium, grown men wear makeup to work. Hate to admit that, but it’s true. But television also, over time, is revealing. If you watch long enough, you can tell who is real and who is fraudulent. Well, you’re about to have all of your perceptions confirmed,” Carlson said on Friday.

“Remember Michael Cohen, the president’s former lawyer, the one who went to jail for tax evasion?” the Fox News host asked, referring to the disbarred lawyer who pleaded guilty in 2018 to eight criminal charges, including bank fraud, tax fraud, and campaign finance violations.

“Cohen was a committed sleazeball, so it probably won’t surprise you to learn that he was very friendly with a number of well-known media figures. Underneath it all, they had a lot in common. The unethical lawyer and the unethical talk show hosts. Cohen talked to all of them recently,” Carlson said.

“Well, it turns out those conversations were tape-recorded. The audio quality is excellent. Copies have been floating around for quite some time now, none has been aired publicly yet. Who is he talking to?” he added, with a sinister laugh.

“A lot of people,” Carlson noted before explaining that the CNN host and brother of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo was one of those recorded.

“Chris Cuomo at CNN was one of them. Cohen and the governor’s brother had a pretty shocking conversation. Bottom line, Chris Cuomo is not the person he pretends to be on CNN,” he said.

Trump’s former “fixer” unloaded a personal attack against the president in a video advertisement for the Democratic group American Bridge this week before the start of the Republican National Convention.

“When you watch the president this week, remember this,” Cohen said in the ad. “If he says something is huge, it’s probably small. If he says something will work, it probably won’t. And if he says he cares about you and your family, he certainly does not.”

A 2018 report indicated that federal investigators had retrieved 12 tapes recorded by Cohen, including the nearly two-hour conversation with Cuomo in which he allegedly discussed details about a hush payment to porn star Stormy Daniels about an alleged affair she had with Trump.

“It was Michael Cohen’s habit for many years to record conversations in lieu of taking notes,” Lanny Davis, a lawyer for Cohen had said at the time, according to The Wall Street Journal. “He had no intention of ever publicizing such tapes nor any intention to ever deceive anyone.”

In a 2018 interview with White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, Cuomo said he thought Cohen’s secret recording of their conversation was “dishonest,” after he avoided revealing what they spoke about.

“You know what we talked about in the conversation? I’m not going to tell you and you know why?” Cuomo said to Conway. “It was off the record and I respect that even though he did me wrong. That’s called integrity…I’m still not going to burn him even though he did something wrong…there’s nothing on it that I’m worried about.

But Fox News’ Carlson begs to differ.

“And there is more,” he said on his show as he teased the tape on Friday.

“This is a developing story. We’ll have all of it for you next week,” Carlson added. “Tune in.”
