Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro torched NBA star LeBron James for an “abject disgusting lie” when he implied that the Wisconsin officer in the Jacob Blake shooting may have wanted to harm black people that day.
The host of “The Ben Shapiro Show” blasted James on Thursday after he declared during a press conference that black people are terrified to live in America, suggesting that the Kenosha officer who shot Blake in an incident on Sunday may have woken up “on the wrong side of the bed” or had a motive.
“LeBron James — just because the man is very famous and very wealthy and very good at basketball, doesn’t mean he knows what in the hell he’s talking about,” Shapiro said before playing a clip of the Los Angeles Lakers superstar.
“Quite frankly, it’s just f–ked up in our community,” James told reporters earlier this week.
“I know people get tired of hearing me say it, but we are scared as black people in America. Black men, black women, black kids, we are terrified because you don’t know, you have no idea how that cop that day left the house,” he added.
“You don’t know if he woke up on the good side of the bed, you don’t know if he woke up on the wrong side of the bed. You don’t know if he had an argument at home with a significant other, if one of his kids said something crazy to him and he left the house steaming. Or maybe he just left the house saying that today is gonna be the end for one of these black people,” the three-time NBA champion said. “That’s what it feels like.”

“I don’t give a crap about what it feels like to LeBron James,” Shapiro exclaimed on his show Thursday. “I care about the actual facts of the situation. Feelings don’t matter here … ”
“The question is, are cops routinely leaving the house being like, ‘I’m shooting a black guy today’? That is such an abject disgusting lie. It’s such a disgusting lie, There’s no evidence to back that,” Shapiro said.
“The implication that police officers wake up in the morning like, ‘I’m shooting a black guy today’ is disgusting. It’s disgusting!” he emphasized.
“It turns all black Americans into victims of the police, which is a lie, and suggests that the removal of the police is the solution, which is an even bigger lie,” he added. “And, it suggests that black people don’t have agency of their own lives in the racist America … which is the biggest lie of all.”

Shapiro also called out Los Angeles Clippers coach Glenn “Doc” Rivers who acted as an unofficial spokesman for the black community, declaring this week in a post-game interview that “we’re the ones getting killed.”
“It’s amazing why we keep loving this country, and this country does not love us back,” the 58-year-old basketball coach and former player told reporters after complaining that Republicans keep talking about fear when “we’re the ones getting killed. We’re the ones getting shot.”
Shapiro slammed the comments as “nonsense,” noting that the country even had a black president in Barack Obama.
“This is not to suggest again that there’s no racism in America. Of course, there’s racism in America,” Shapiro continued, contending that this does not mean the nation is racist.
He also suggested that the boycott by the NBA players who claimed to be making a stand protesting Blake’s shooting were actually aimed at their own audience and fans as well as the team owners who pay their salaries. The NBA postponed playoff games scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday as a show of solidarity with the players.
Shapiro slammed the players like James whose estimated net worth in 2018 was listed at $450 million by Forbes, calling him out for sacrificing other players’ careers by speaking out on social justice issues he feels compelled to weigh in on.
He went on to note that, in the end, fans will just walk away from supporting the sports leagues that continue to inject politics into the games.
Shapiro told listeners that while “all of these athletes have the right to speak –they’re Americans just like everybody else — that doesn’t mean they know what the hell they’re talking about or that what they’re saying is good for the country.”
