DNC mocked for ‘celebrity’ host: ‘Always with the theatrics but no substance’

The Democratic National Convention kicked off yesterday, and was lampooned for selecting C-list actress Eva Longoria to emcee the first night of the virtual event.

Longoria is best-known for starring on the TV series “Desperate Housewives” from 2004 to 2012. Many Americans are not very familiar with who she is now, since her acting career waned after “Desperate Housewives” was canceled eight years ago.

If birds of a feather flock together, consider this: Eva’s close friend is actress Felicity Huffman, a felon who was jailed in 2019 for participating in a college-admissions scam. Huffman admitted paying $15,000 for someone else to take her daughter’s SATs for her.

Numerous Twitter users slammed the Democrat Party for reverting to its tired tactic of relying on Hollywood “celebrities” to woo voters.

This ploy failed to deliver the White House for Hillary Clinton in 2016, even though countless A-listers like George Clooney, Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen, LeBron James, Katy Perry, Oprah Winfrey, and Ellen DeGeneres endorsed and even campaigned with Hillary.

One woman tweeted: “You Dems missed the Memo. We don’t give a sh*t about Hollywood.”

Another person remarked: “I make $7.25 an hour and work for tips. Airing millionaire Eva Longoria on tonight’s DNC to try to be more relatable to Americans makes me even more disgusted by the Democrats.”

A black woman tweeted: “They got Eva Longoria hosting night one of the DNC y’all. Always with the theatrics but no substance.”

Some Twitter users initially got excited because they thought pro baseball star Evan Longoria was the emcee. They were disappointed to learn it was Eva.

“There is nothing more DNC than Eva Longoria hosting this evening…someone who has not been famous since 2008.”

“Seriously? I mean this is where Dems hang on Hollywood. Why not have a teacher, a nurse, a police officer?”

Republican Senator Marco Rubio echoed the sentiment of millions of Americans when he remarked:

“Brilliant move! No one is more in touch with the challenges and obstacles faced by everyday Americans than actors & celebrities.”

Rubio was mocked by Twitter leftists for dissing Longoria. Some disingenuously insisted that Republicans had selected a reality TV star as its president.

For the record, Donald Trump was rich and famous before he starred in the top-rated reality TV series “The Apprentice.” Trump was selected to star on his own show BECAUSE he was already a billionaire businessman. A TV show did not make him rich or famous.

Fox News host Laura Ingraham said Democrats paid hollow lip service to promoting “unity,” while their constituents riot, loot, torch buildings, and beat up innocent people on the streets every night.

“The Democrats billed tonight as a program to promote unity but…this was nothing but a series of bromides and clichés that turned out to be an empty buzzword,” Ingraham said.

“To discuss ‘racial equality,’ they trotted out Mayor Muriel Bowser, who cares more about a BLM mural in her city than the fact that homicides are up in her majority-black city more than 20% over last year.”

Here’s a memorable flashback to Michelle Obama (another DNC speaker), where she effusively praised her buddy, convicted serial rapist Harvey Weinstein.
