Tucker goes after ‘Dear Leader Fauci’ for passing on protest question, ‘like a complete fraud’

Tucker Carlson slammed Dr. Anthony Fauci as a “fraud” following his heated exchange with Rep. Jim Jordan during a House hearing this week.

The Fox News host called out the infectious disease expert on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” for only being willing to “opine” about anything that won’t potentially offend the “popular and fashionable left,” highlighting Fauci’s hypocrisy on a question in Congress about protesting during a pandemic.

“Anthony Fauci is likely the most powerful physician in the history of this country,” Carlson said in a monologue Friday as a mocking graphic of Fauci with the words “Dear Leader” appeared, a phrase used to describe North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un.

“He’s one of the forces behind the mass quarantines that tanked the economy and put millions out of work. He says it’s worth it, though, because the threat is just so profound. So profound, so imminent that you should wear goggles and stop shaking hands, in the name of science,” the Fox News host added.

“So it’s interesting in light of that, that one thing Anthony Fauci doesn’t seem concerned about at all are the riots going on, the mass protests where thousands of people are crowded in together, touching each other without goggles. Fauci was asked about this,” Carlson said as he shared a video of Fauci’s questioning by Jordan before the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis.

The Ohio Republican asked Fauci if “protests increase the spread of the virus” and whether ongoing demonstrations across the nation should be limited after Fauci confirmed that “crowding together, particularly when you’re not wearing a mask, contributes to the spread of the virus.”

“I’m not in a position to determine what the government can do in a forceful way,” the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases said as Jordan attempted to get a straight answer.

“Well, you make all kinds of recommendations, you make comments on dating, baseball and everything you can image,” the GOP lawmaker shot back.

Pressed by Jordan on limiting protests, Fauci finally declared, “I’m not going to opine on limiting anything.”

“Wow, finally a member of Congress capable of asking a follow-up question and he’s absolutely right,” Carlson noted. “There is nothing Dr. Anthony Fauci won’t opine on as long as it doesn’t offend the popular and fashionable left.”

He argued that Fauci has repeatedly “advocated for a new coronavirus policy,” showing a video clip as evidence of the physician’s urging of government leaders “to be as forceful as possible” in getting citizens to wear protective face masks.

“Oh, so he is willing to weigh in on specific responses. Government responses. What a fraud this guy is,” Carlson said.

“By the way, the consequences don’t matter. They are just inconveniences, he explained,” Carlson added as he showed another video clip of Fauci.

“I know it’s difficult, but we are having a lot of suffering, a lot of death. This is an inconvenience from an economic and personal standpoint, but we just have to do it,” Fauci said.

“Oh, we just have to do it. Really?”  Carlson quipped.

“Fauci is 79, but maybe if he had like 22-year-old kids who were trying to make their way in this world in an economy that is headed down the tubes, thanks largely to his recommendations, he would feel differently,” he added.

“It’s not merely an inconvenience when your economy collapses. It’s the end of the American Dream. That’s not a small thing,” Carlson continued. “Maybe it’s worth it. Maybe it’s not, but if it is, then you probably shouldn’t take a pass on the question ‘are protests and riots okay?’ Unless you’re a total fraud, like a complete fraud.”
