Democrat Vernon Jones, a Georgia representative, torpedoed MSNBC commentator Craig Melvin for suggesting he’s a paid shill because he’s a black man who supports President Trump.
Jones is a member of the “Black Voices for Trump” advisory board. During the past year, Jones has repeatedly slammed the Democrat Party for exploiting black Americans for votes and then ignoring them after the election passes.
Jones has frequently stated that President Trump “has done more for black Americans than any other President in modern history.”
MSNBC’s left-wing activist Craig Melvin was outraged that a lifelong black Democrat supports Trump, so he asked Jones if he’s being paid to be a Trump surrogate.
“Are you a paid campaign surrogate? Are you being compensated?” Melvin asked.
Jones fired back that unlike Melvin—who’s paid by MSNBC to push a leftist agenda—he thinks for himself.
“Let me be clear: You get paid to shape a liberal narrative. You get paid to attack this President,” Jones replied. “I don’t get a dime from this president. I don’t get a dime from the campaign. Everything I have done has been me and based on my principles.”

Jones pointed out that throughout his political career, he has served his constituents by putting their interests first—above partisan politics.
“This is not about politics,” Jones underscored. “This is about putting your country before politics, putting your country before the party. President Trump is right on target with results. Prior to the pandemic, he had the best economy that we’ve had going back years and years and years. The Democratic Party chose to put illegals [above law-abiding Americans for decades].”
Jones slammed the race-baiting Melvin for channeling Joe Biden, who told black Americans that “You Ain’t Black!” if you don’t vote for him.
Rep. Jones said Melvin’s implication that he’s a paid shill mirrors the Democrat Party’s entitled mindset that they own the black vote.
“You only ask me that because I don’t fit your narrative!” Jones said. “I don’t want anything from this president. It’s what I can do for my country. You need to accept that many other African-Americans support this president because of his policies. To insult me to say am I getting paid—that is disgraceful!”
Jones added: “That’s representative of MSNBC and their narrative to keep blacks silent who support this president. Why can’t I be like white liberals? Nobody questions if they’re getting paid. Are you getting paid by Joe Biden?”
Craig Melvin’s race-baiting is nothing new. In June, Melvin told Senator Tim Scott (R-South Carolina) that he was being used as a “token” by the Republican Party in the wake of George Floyd’s death.
After his interview, Rep. Vernon Jones blast MSNBC and Craig Melvin on Twitter and reiterated his support for President Trump.
Jones tweeted: “I went on MSNBC and they accused me of being a sell-out. The Left is so racist that they think the only way a black man will think for himself is he’s paid? I’m tired of the bigotry. Donald Trump – I’ve got your back!”

Jones joins a growing chorus of black Democrats who have turned their backs on the Democrat Party.
Last week, civil-rights attorney Leo Terrell (a lifelong Democrat and frequent Trump critic) vowed to vote for Trump. It’ll the first time in his life that he’ll vote for a Republican.
When asked why he’s voting for President Trump, Terrell said he can no longer support the Democrat Party’s racism, lies, and empty promises.
“Let me be very clear to every Democrat on the planet: Donald J. Trump has done more for black America in three years than the Obama/Biden Administration [ever did]. The reason I’m voting for Donald Trump is because Joe Biden went on national radio and said, ‘If you vote for Trump, you ain’t black.’ That is insulting! That is racist! Biden is the racist!”

Terrell continued: “You have these old, outdated Democrats who are still trying to pander to blacks [with empty promises]. Blacks, reject this! And with the crime going on in these Democratic cities, it is insulting! Donald Trump is the only person who can resurrect these Democrat cities and save them from lawlessness. Let’s be very clear: Joe Biden is the racist, not Donald Trump!”
