A growing movement on the left to stop presumptive Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden from debating incumbent President Donald Trump seems to coincide with a growing inability by the nominee to speak coherently and make any sense.
On Wednesday, Biden participated in a virtual conference hosted by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and well, his participation wound up generating multiple clips of him seemingly rambling on without really saying anything.

“[IBEW international president Lonnie Stephenson] knows I believe this every fiber of my being. We’re posed. What I proposed is can be done. I think we’re in a position to really make it happen. And my team and your team are already working closely together to light up the path forward here,” he said in the clip above.
“Critical laws like the PRO Act to strengthen collective bargaining, on politics like prevailing …,” he added before suddenly cutting himself off. “And, look, I’m taking too much time.”
What does it mean to be “posed?” And why was he again concerned about “taking too much time?” Or was he really? Some believe Biden didn’t stop speaking because he was running out of time but because he’d forgotten his train of thought:
In all of his speeches he’s always worried about taking too much time. Why? Is he going to get in trouble by someone? It’s strange.

Biden’s participation in the IBEW conference came a day after The New York Times columnist Thomas L. Friedman published a piece arguing “Biden should not debate Trump unless” the president does two things he’ll never do — release his 2016-2018 tax returns, and agree to real-time so-called “fact-checking.”
“Only if leading into the debate, American voters have a clear picture of Trump’s tax returns alongside Biden’s, and only if, coming out of the debate, they have a clear picture of who was telling the truth and who was not, will they be able to make a fair judgment between the two candidates,” Friedman wrote.
“That kind of debate and only that kind of debate would be worthy of voters’ consideration and Biden’s participation. Otherwise, Joe, stay in your basement.”
Interesting timing …
Some of his Twitter followers, all of them left-wing zealots, argued that Biden shouldn’t debate the president at all.

Their accusations that Trump is a liar are easily challenged by evidence that Biden tells plenty of lies.
Conservatives responded to Friedman’s column by mocking him for “making excuses” to protect Biden from what most predict would be a devastating debate.

She’s right — it does show.
“You know back in the ’30s, when we had the first breakthrough in terms of what and for having union movement be able to move,” the second clip below from the IBEW’s virtual conference shows Biden saying:

What the hell does that even mean?
While it wasn’t included in the clip, here’s what he said next: “You know, it didn’t say we should allow you, it said we should encourage the union. That’s what you’re gonna have in the White House — somebody’s who’s going to be hollering for the union.”
At least that part of the statement kind of made sense.

Can he speak? Yes. Can he articulate points? Sort of. But can he do these things better than the president? It would seem not, and well, that may possibly by why so many on the left appear hellbent on stopping him from debating.
