A former police officer calling “B.S.” on the Minneapolis city council’s plan to dismantle the police department got a chance to confront a Councilmember directly.
Community violence-prevention advocates held an emergency news conference to denounce the push to dismantle the police department following deadly shootings in the area, demanding that citizens rise up against the threatened move. Lisa Clemons, a former officer and a peace activist with “A Mother’s Love” was speaking on the issue when Minneapolis City Councilmember Andrea Jenkins happened on the scene.
“We cannot have bullets continue to fly in our community,” Clemons said in remarks at the conference inside a community center.
“It is time to stand up in this city, it is time to tell the city council that utopia is a bunch of B.S. We are not in Mayberry RFD, we are in the wild wild west. And it is time for some answers,” Clemons said.

She was being interviewed by WCCO shortly after when she noticed Jenkins in the area. Clemons invited the Minneapolis City Council vice president over to speak about the issue while the news outlet’s cameras were rolling.
“Want to come talk, Andrea?” Clemons asked. “About the violence?”
When asked directly by reporter Susan-Elizabeth Littlefield if the plan is still to completely dismantle the police department, Jenkins laughed and took a moment to answer.
“I want to reimagine a police force that responds to the community in a way that is respectful,” Jenkins said, before responding to Clemons’ question about the surge in street violence.
“My only response to that is we are going to have, we will have those conversations, we are in an emergency situation,” she added.
“When will that be an emergency situation that the city council believes should have some priority other than the police?” Clemons asked, as Jenkins asserted that the violence is “an emergency situation right now.”
When Clemons offered to sit at a future discussion table to talk about the funding issues, Jenkins replied, “That’s exactly what I’m proposing, work together, come up with reforms.”
Councilmembers seem to have no problem calling for the dismantling of the city’s police force while they hypocritically enjoy the protection of private security, courtesy of taxpayers who will not have access to law enforcement in the Democrats’ “Utopia.”
After calling for the elimination of the police department following the death of George Floyd in May, Jenkins and other members of the Minneapolis City Council have reportedly been protected by a security detail that costs taxpayers $4,500 per day.
At the end of June, a spokesperson for the city revealed that three weeks of security had cost about $63,000.

Rather than work on resolving the immediate issues, the city and law enforcement are now hanging in an unknown limbo awaiting the results of the city council’s call, which cannot be implemented without voter approval which could take years.
Confusing rhetoric by Jenkins and others on the council is driving home the point that these lawmakers don’t really have a plan to implement their “woke” call against the police. Social media users applauded Clemons for her no-nonsense take on the inane proposal.
violence. If you drive through there it’s an avenue of burned buildings and plywood and graffiti. Where are their marches? Where’s Al Sharpton? Where’s CNN? Where’s Mayor Frey & Gov Walz? I’ll tell you: making sure ppl in the suburbs are wearing masks. Clowns. The whole lot.

Lisa Clemons raised issue, as did I. Gangs, vigilante groups, which could morph into something else, as happens in other countries. Nobody -NOBODY- safe, anywhere.
