Former national security advisor and retired Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn told conservative talk radio king Rush Limbaugh on Wednesday that fighting for the soul the country is a “struggle” that “will never end.”

Flynn’s comments came after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. District, in a 2-1 ruling, ordered U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan to accept the Justice Department’s decision to drop his case after a U.S. attorney from Missouri found evidence indicating the FBI and the Obama administration wrongly entrapped him in 2017.

“And, what the decision today is really it’s a good thing for General Flynn, it’s a good thing for me, it’s a good thing for my family, but it’s really a boost of confidence for the American people and our justice system because that’s what this really comes down to is whether or not our justice system is going to have the confidence of the American people in it and boy, your listeners know this,” Flynn told Limbaugh.

“I will just tell you that, I have always believed and fought for our rule of law- the most important thing that we have in this country bar none is that. And we have to make it work whether we like it or not,” Flynn continued.

“And it has to work with the right people and the right leaders and the people of our country to step up to the plate. And, you know, elections matter, voting matters.”

Flynn pleaded guilty to one count of lying to the FBI in 2017, becoming the first former Trump administration or associate indicted by former special counsel Robert Mueller. At the time, he pledged to fully cooperate with Mueller’s ongoing probe.

But in January after securing new legal representation, the former director of the Defense Intelligence Agency withdrew his guilty plea, denying that he lied to the bureau during a Jan. 24, 2017 meeting at the White House.

“I am innocent of this crime, and I request to withdraw my guilty plea,” Flynn said in a court document filed by his new attorney, former federal prosecutor and whistleblower Sidney Powell.

In late April, Powell announced that the Justice Department had provided Flynn with exonerating evidence that was never presented to Sullivan during the former national security adviser’s initial pleading.

“This afternoon, the government produced to Mr. Flynn stunning Brady evidence that proves Mr. Flynn’s allegations of having been deliberately set up and framed by corrupt agents at the top of the FBI,” Powell said in a legal filing. “It also defeats any argument that the interview of Mr. Flynn on January 24, 2017 was material to any ‘investigation.’ The government has deliberately suppressed this evidence from the inception of this prosecution — knowing there was no crime by Mr. Flynn.”

The documents, first reported by CBS News’ Catherine Herridge, indicated that the FBI agents sent to interview Flynn were setting him up in a perjury trap to get him fired or indicted, both of which ultimately happened.

In his interview with Limbaugh, Flynn said he could not yet get into all the details surrounding his case, but he believes that someday he’ll be able to talk more about it.

“I will just tell you that I have always believed and fought for our rule of law. The most important thing that we have in this country, bar none, is that. And we have to make it work whether we like it or not, and it has to work with the right people and the right leaders and the people of our country to step up to the plate. You know, and elections matter, right? Voting matters,” he said, adding: “You know, the struggle for this country will never end.”

In a separate interview with another top conservative talker, Mark Levin, Flynn said he and Powell “still have to wait on Judge Sullivan to sign off on the dismissal…but we feel very good about everything and where things are at.”
