The bombshell release of new documents showed that the FBI found “no derogatory information” on former national security adviser Michael Flynn while investigating his alleged Russian contacts.

In fact, the FBI moved to close their investigation of him in early January 2017 before former FBI agent Peter Strzok intervened, asking to keep the case open, according to the National Review’s Tobias Hoonhout.

Strzok being the fired Trump-hating lovebird who was having an extramarital affair with bureau attorney Lisa Page, who also played a role in the scandalous treatment of Flynn.

The FBI moved to close the Flynn case on January 4, 2017, as the documents show.

More from the National Review:

“Flynn was given the codename “Crossfire Razor” and investigated in a spinoff case predicated by the FBI’s “Crossfire Hurricane” surveillance of the 2016 Trump campaign […]

“The writer notes that since CROSSFIRE RAZOR was not specifically named as an agent of a foreign power by the original CROSSFIRE HURRICANE predicated reporting, the absence of any derogatory information or lead information from these logical sources reduced the number of investigative avenues and techniques to pursue,” the FBI concluded. “Per the direction of FBI management, CROSSFIRE RAZOR was not interviewed as part of the case closing procedure.”

The same day the FBI filed to close the probe, Strzok “texted a redacted individual, apparently Flynn’s case agent, to ask ‘if you haven’t closed RAZOR, don’t do so yet,'” Hoonhout reported.

“Pls keep it open for now,” the disgraced FBI official requested.

Strzok, who later interviewed Flynn in the White House after the Trump official was urged not to have an attorney present, then messaged his lover and told Page that it was “serendipitously good” that the case was still open.

“Phew.” Page responded.

The exchanges can be seen below:

Hoonhout noted that Strzok “implied that James Comey and Andrew McCabe were personally involved in the Flynn case — telling a redacted individual on January 4 that ‘7th floor involved,’ an apparent nod to the floor in Bureau headquarters that houses senior FBI leadership.”

Wall Street Journal columnist Kimberley Strassel laid out the details of Flynn being set up in a manner sure to get the blood boiling of fair-minded Americans.

Flynn pleaded guilty in 2017 to lying to the FBI about his conversations with Russia’s ambassador to the United States, but filed papers in January to officially withdraw his guilty plea after prosecutors indicated they’d no longer pursue a lenient sentence.

CBS investigative reporter Catherine Herridge also reported on Strzok intervening,

The online reaction to the story suggests that Strzok should be among the first to be arrested, should accountability ever arrive in Washington, DC. There was also notice taken that fired FBI director James Comey has been awfully quiet of late.
