Anderson Cooper accuses Trump of ‘hijacking’ WH briefings to ‘rewrite’ coronavirus response

CNN anchor Anderson Cooper spewed his brand of so-called journalism following a White House press briefing as he accused President Trump of “hijacking” the event to “rewrite” history.

Cooper kicked off his show on Monday by trashing the president for his coronavirus response following the task force press briefing.

“If you tuned into it hoping you were going to hear from the country’s top scientists, you were likely disappointed,” Cooper said.

“What you mostly heard was the president. And what you saw was a hijacking. A hijacking of the task force press conference by a president determined to rewrite the history of his early and reprehensibly irresponsible response to this virus,” he continued.

“What the president showed us today is what the nation’s top scientists have to deal with every day– a president who now uses these briefings as a reelection platform, an opportunity to lie, to deflect, to attack, to bully, and cover-up his own deadly dismissals of the virus for crucial weeks,” Cooper claimed, declaring his one-sided opinion as fact to his viewers.

He went on to complain that reporters “who asked fair questions but didn’t kowtow or suck up” to Trump were “attacked and belittled” while defending an Obama-era government official who reported on a shortage of medical supplies and testing.

“I just have to point out that this is not normal and it matters because this is life or death,” Cooper exclaimed.

He went on to slam the president for claiming a “victory” over coronavirus testing.

“This is what the president is clinging to, claiming that testing always has been great. It hasn’t. Still not. Hospitalization rates and fatalities expected to increase dramatically from the coronavirus,” Cooper claimed. “President Trump, however, spoke again today of light at the end of the tunnel. No word of how long that tunnel may be or how dim the light currently is.”

He scoffed at Trump’s contention that state governors are “happy” with the administration’s response, calling it out as “life, according to the president.”

Cooper’s lack of self-awareness was more than evident in his rant, as he called Trump out for “rewriting” history while his own network has arrogantly decided its viewers need to be spoon-fed parts of the press briefings. CNN has proudly been skipping remarks by the president during the coronavirus task force briefings, deciding for viewers that they do not need to hear what he has to say about the national emergency.

The network not only delayed airing Monday’s briefing, it broke away long before it was over, preventing viewers from seeing Vice President Mike Pence, Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Deborah Birx speak to reporters.

And, as RNC rapid response director Steve Guest, pointed out in a detailed Twitter thread, Cooper is just as talented at “rewriting” the narrative.
