In news that should surprise no one, lower-income people are being hit harder by the coronavirus than the wealthy. This is partly because the rich are able to work from home at desk jobs and to shelter in place during business shutdowns while the poor often have to leave their homes to earn a paycheck.
“While the rich have holed up in their homes or even fled to their second homes in rural and beachside towns to hide out from the outbreak, poorer people across the U.S. are continuing to move around despite lockdown rules and have an increased risk of catching the killer virus,” the Daily Mail reported.
Indeed, analysis of smartphone location data shows that rich people are staying home far more than their poor counterparts, especially during the workweek.
In New York City, lower-income neighborhoods in Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx have the highest coronavirus infections and death rates.
These neighborhoods are not only more crowded, but the residents are more likely to work in jobs where they can’t work from home.
Adie Tomer of the Brookings Institution remarked: “Covid-19 is exposing a lot of the structural disadvantages that low-income people face. The well-off are employed in industries where they are at a desk. And so there are some advantages built into these high-income neighborhoods during this pandemic.”
There are other factors to this simplistic “rich-versus-poor” narrative that the media are ignoring.
First, studies show that there’s a higher obesity rate among the poor than the rich.
Americans with obesity-linked diseases like diabetes are at higher risk of experiencing a severe infection due to COVID-19, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

Award-winning actor James Woods said it appears that the coronavirus is also more widespread in left-wing “sanctuary cities” like New York, San Francisco, and Seattle. Is that a coincidence?
Woods tweeted: “There is obviously no mathematical correlation yet established, but it’s intriguing how the virus has blossomed in so-called “sanctuary cities.”
Before anyone dismisses James Woods as “just another dumb actor,” it bears noting that he is a certified genius, with an IQ of 184. When Woods was in high school, he scored a near-perfect SAT score of 1580 and got a perfect 800 on the verbal section.
That earned him admission to MIT, one of the top universities in the world (and a technical one at that).

Reminder: Open-borders leftists didn’t care that the caravans of illegal aliens who barraged the U.S. border contained many people who were sick with infectious diseases.
2267 of the migrants have been treated:
60% w/ respiratory infections
3 cases of TB
4 cases of HIV-AIDS
101 cases of lice
4 cases of chickenpox & hepatitisFor those trying to blame ICE & BP for ill health in detention facilities, it’s clear they are likely ALREADY sick.

One person responded to Woods by tweeting: “Obviously, the viruses are seeking sanctuary.”

Another retorted: “I have been saying that for the last 2 weeks. The sanctuary cities run by Democrats seem to be worse hit. Wonder why?”

One man quipped: “Because we were ‘racists’ for saying they should stop hanging out in Chinatown and filling all the restaurants and bars.”
Because we were racists for saying they should stop hanging out in Chinatown and filling all the restaurants and bars. Also, see international port cities.

Reminder: On March 10, New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez urged New Yorkers and other Americans to flock to Chinese restaurants amid the coronavirus outbreak.
If you don’t, AOC said you are a racist.
