‘Nightline’ host to Pence: ‘When you talk to God,’ do you worry at all about those who’ve died because of slow federal response?

The snootiness, disrespect, and elitism of the media class seem to know no bounds …

Fresh off of smearing Vice President Mike Pence as the “Jesus Whisperer” last year, the seemingly anti-Christian media have now taken to mocking his Christian faith in a way so despicable that it’s tempting to believe that what’s happening right now isn’t real life but rather an episode of “The Twilight Zone.”

The unwarranted mockery occurred last week as the VP graciously sat with Byron Pitts, the co-anchor of ABC News’ “Nightline,” for an interview.

During the final portion of the interview, Pitts seemed to use Pence’s known — and mocked — habit of “talking to God” (i.e., prayer) to attack the Trump administration over its coronavirus response.

“Mr. Vice President, I have a final question for you, and I ask this not in a political way: But for you sir, like so many of us in our nation, you are a person of deep faith. No one doubts that,” the ABC News co-anchor began.

“When you talk to God in your moments alone, do you find yourself worrying at all that people you represent, and care deeply about, have died and will die who did not need to because of steps the federal government did not take soon enough?”

That question wasn’t political?

While Pitts tried diligently with his voice and demeanor to portray the question as a sincere one, and while it’s true he’s reportedly a devout Christian, according to NewsBusters, to many the question still reeked of anti-Christian bigotry and anti-Trump bias.

As a result, it triggered a flurry of backlash.

The latter Twitter user was 100 percent correct about the vice president’s indelible politeness, for instead of striking back at Pitts — as President Donald Trump would have gladly and justifiably been wont to do — Pence responded like a perfect gentleman, going so far as to even thank the disrespectful co-anchor for the question.

“Well, thank you for mentioning that we are talking about one American at a time and I promise you, that’s the way President Trump thinks of this, it’s the way I think of it,” he replied.

“We wanted the American people to see the numbers so that we understand the challenging days that lie ahead, but I want people to know that our future is in your hands, that if every one of us will do and put into practice the guidelines for America that we can bring those numbers down. I really do believe we’ll get through this and we’ll come out stronger than ever before.”

Besides behind disrespectful toward Christians, Pitts’ question was also disingenuous. The notion that people “have died and will die” because of the Trump administration’s failure to take certain steps “soon enough” doesn’t completely vibe with the known facts.

The facts show the administration began taking concrete steps toward handling the coronavirus crisis as early as January, even as both ABC News’ peers in the mainstream media and allies in the Democrat Party were downplaying the virus.

The facts also make it clear that the administration’s admittedly delayed testing response was a direct result of China’s gross lies regarding the coronavirus.

It doesn’t help that the World Health Organization spent months repeatedly providing cover for the Communist Party of China by echoing its since-debunked claims that the coronavirus is nothing to worry about.

WHO didn’t declare coronavirus a “public health emergency of international concern” until Jan. 31. A day after the declaration, President Donald Trump “suspended entry into the United States by any foreign nationals who had traveled to China in the past 14 days,” as reported by The New York Times.

At the time, the mainstream media responded by labeling the president’s ban racist or, in the case of the Times, describing it as “more of an emotional or political reaction.”
