Fauci and Birx set accusatory press straight: Slow first response was because China hid data. Period.

Members of President Donald Trump’s coronavirus task force tried relentlessly Monday to explain to the stubborn media that the blame for the government’s “delayed” response to the crisis lies squarely with China and its communist government.

The explanations were prompted by questions from chief White House correspondent Jim Acosta, who along with his cohorts at CNN have tried repeatedly to pin the blame for the global coronavirus crisis on the president, despite evidence to the contrary.

After National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci revealed that current coronavirus models predict a total of 100,000 to 240,000 Americans will die before the crisis abates, Acosta predictably asked whether the model would have predicted fewer deaths had the government taken mitigation efforts earlier.

Fauci responded by pointing out that mitigation efforts couldn’t have been pursued any earlier because nobody had even been aware of the virus’s impacts precisely because the Communist Party of China had succeeded in hiding these impacts from the world.

In fact, China continues to hide data from the world.

He further admitted that he was hesitant about answering Acosta’s question because he’s aware of how propaganda networks like CNN love to take such answers out of context to boost their #OrangeManBad narrative.

[I]f there was no virus in the background, there was nothing to mitigate,” he said. “If there was virus there that we didn’t know about, then the answer to your question is probably yes.”

Now the only trouble with that is that whenever you come out and say something like that, it always becomes almost a sound bite that gets taken out of context.”

Indeed.

However, he continued, it’s true that “if there were covert infections here that we didn’t know about, and we didn’t mitigate them, that they would’ve made a difference.”

But Acosta wasn’t convinced.

“But they were early. They started early. We were watching South Korea, excuse me, and China and Italy, and we weren’t taking action when those countries were spiking,” he pressed in rebuttal.

In a perfect world, it would have been nice to know what was going on in China. We didn’t, but I believe Jim, that we, we acted very, very early in that,” Fauci replied.

Not surprisingly, this enlightening interaction between Acosta and Fauci has been completely ignored by CNN and its propagandists, including chief media correspondent Brian Stelter, who didn’t include any of it in his daily newsletter.

Nor did Stelter and his colleagues write even a word about fellow task force member Dr. Deborah Birx, who was appointed to the federal government as the U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator by former President Barack Hussein Obama in 2014.

Later during Tuesday’s briefing, she reiterated Fauci’s point by noting that China has been hiding internal data about the virus since day one.

“[W]hen you talk about could we have known something different. I think … when you look at the China data originally and you said, oh, well there’s 80 million people or 20 million people in Wuhan and 80 million people in Hubei, and they come up with a number of 50,000 [infected], you start thinking of this more like SARS than you do this kind of global pandemic,” she said.

I mean, I’ll just be frank … I think the medical community interpreted the Chinese data as that this was serious but smaller than anyone expected because I think probably we were missing a significant amount of the data.”

Despite CNN’s “reporters” being the one who asked these questions, the replies by Fauci and Birx were completely ignored by the network for obvious reasons.

Instead, the network has been busy attacking Fox News, smearing Dr. Birx, and propagating revisionist history about the right’s response to the coronavirus threat.

Case in point:

According to CNN’s #OrangeManBad narrative, the president and his allies at Fox News completely ignored the coronavirus threat until the last minute. This is false.

First, members of the mainstream left-wing press, of which CNN is a part, were the ones who originally downplayed the virus:

Second, the Trump administration began taking concrete steps to combat the coronavirus back in January, when the media were busy comparing the virus to the flu and obsessing over congressional Democrats’ since-failed impeachment of the president.

And third, it’s been the mainstream left-wing press — not the Trump administration — that’s been willfully peddling the Communist Party of China’s propaganda, to the point that the regime’s propagandists have been using the American media’s remarks to boost their own lies.

“The Global Times, a state-run Chinese tabloid, released a video recently highlighting various U.S. media personalities and Democratic leaders, who have pushed the Beijing-approved talking point that it is racist to refer to the virus by its country or city of origin,” the Washington Examiner reported Tuesday.

“The video features CNN’s Chris Cuomo and NBC News’s Richard Engel. The Chinese-produced propaganda also cites failed two-time presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.”
