Mom makes home video of side-splitting coronavirus-inspired rendition of ‘I Will Survive’

Being forced to stay at home isn’t easy for everyone. In fact, a cursory glance at Twitter reveals that some people (namely celebrities) are downright losing it.

But there are others who are making the most out of being at home, and even attempt to inject some humor into what many would consider an incredibly bleak global situation.

Take Victoria Emes for example. Instead of sitting at home fretting about the state of the world, she decided to remix the Gloria Gaynor classic “I Will Survive.” The re-imagining tackles life in quarantine, the stress of being at home with family 24/7, and even the dreaded toilet paper shortage. The topical rendition is universally relatable and hits on a lot of the struggles facing those under “shelter-in-place” orders.

“At first I was afraid, I was petrified. Keep thinking how I’d ever live without the world outside,” she crooned. “But then I spent so many nights scoffing crisps and necking wine. I know it’s time. To say we’re gonna be just fine!”

Going on to sing about how she wishes she’d stockpiled “more bog roll” and throwing away her children’s homeschool schedule, the hilarious woman gives a voice to the various frustrations felt around the world.

“I will survive! Oh so long as I have internet I know I’ll stay alive,” she sings. “I’ve got all this time to fill, while trying not to get ill. But I’ll survive!”

The cheeky mom has amassed quite a number of fans thanks to her gall. She also inadvertently put to shame all of the celebrities who took to Twitter to sing “Imagine,” a song about communism and open borders during a time when the world is closing their borders to stem the spread of COVID-19.

The tone-deaf move was universally panned by those who have a basic understanding of what is happening in the world around them.

From BizPac Review:

‘Imagine,’ which says ‘imagine that there was no more religion, no more country, no more politics,’ is virtually the ‘Communist Manifesto,’ even though I’m not particularly a communist and I do not belong to any movement,” he once said, according to Far Out magazine.

The only reason he never identified as a self-proclaimed communist was because he reportedly believed true communism hadn’t yet appeared.

A fellow mom took to social media not to sing, but to rant rather comically about how difficult homeschooling her children has been, and swearing up and down that if coronavirus doesn’t take her out, “distance learning” is sure to do the trick.

“Listen, it’s not working, this distance learning thing,” Kenigsberg Levi explained in a now-viral video.“Seriously. It’s impossible! It’s crazy! Straight off in the morning, it’s only the second day, millions of WhatsApp messages.”

“I have four kids, may they be healthy, but just imagine how many WhatsApp messages, how many teachers for each child, how many subjects for each child,” she suggested.

“I go from one child to the other. Here’s science, here’s math, forget it! And how am I supposed to know all those things?” she asked. “Now, our children will find out dumb we are. It’s not right. Really.”

The COVID-19 quarantine is certainly putting additional stress on everyone, but perhaps if people could be more like Mrs. Emes – singing and dancing and cracking wise – the world would be better for it.
