U.S. Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., may be trying to downplay his fire alarm stunt that temporarily halted congressional proceedings, but one Fox host is looking at the legal repercussions.
Emily Compagno, host of “Outnumbered” on Fox News, offered her opinion on the potential consequences for the ‘Squad’ member, though it is unknown whether any action will be taken at all.
“To me, it’s like when we found cocaine in the White House, that for some reason became a laughable point,” she said. “There’s nothing laughable about a culture of lawlessness. a culture of lack of accountability in that White House, and a culture clearly among the Democrats and among this team that can be liberally and all the time applied simply if you are a Republican.”
She then went over rules and laws that may have been broken during the stunt.
“I find it reprehensible and I find it pathetic that a sitting congressman would pull the fire alarm,” Compagno continued. “To your point, it’s a misdemeanor up to six months in jail and $1,000 fine. It can also be illegal obstruction of congressional proceedings, which is a felony, and that can be up to five years. It can also be illegal obstruction of justice and that’s up to 30 years.”
“Think about every time you fly on a plane. What does it say in the restroom? If you tamper with the little fire thing, you will be subjected to a monstrous fine and a felony fine at a minimum. So, yet again. Where is the continuity and where is the fairness?” she asked.
