Dr. Birx punished for props to Trump; MSNBC’s Brian Williams ridicules her ‘praise to Dear Leader’

MSNBC’s Brian Williams proved again the liberal media’s bias and double standard in his on-air ridicule of Dr. Deborah Birx.

In a glaring lack of self-awareness, Williams called out the response coordinator for the White House coronavirus task force for daring to praise President Trump during an interview.

Williams leveled his insult on Friday after playing a clip of Birx being asked about the job Trump has been doing in the battle against the coronavirus pandemic.

“How would you describe the job President Trump is doing behind the scenes and in front of the cameras during these daily briefings that we’re seeing?” a Christian Broadcasting Network reporter asked. “What’s been your perspective, Dr. Birx?”

“He’s been so attentive to the scientific literature and the details and the data,” Birx replied.

“And I think his ability to analyze and integrate data that comes out of his long history in business has really been a real benefit during these discussions about medical issues,” she added.

“That was translated from the original North Korean,” Williams announced with authority as the clip ended.

“Back in the real world, here’s a reminder,” he added, going through an assortment of cherry-picked quotes, headlines and clips to prove his argument that Trump is incompetent.

U.S. Naval War College professor Tom Nichols lent his anti-Trump critique to the mix as he joined Williams to disparage anyone who praised the president, including Birx, a 63-year-old U.S. Army physician and a widely respected AIDS researcher who has served under both Republican and Democrat administrations.

“So, professor, when job one at that podium is to praise the dear leader, what do we as citizens and consumers do when we have even a whiff of doubt about anyone not named [Dr. Anthony] Fauci on that stage?” Williams teed up Nichols on Friday.

“Well, I think we have to have a certain amount of sympathy for the experts on that stage because they’re trying to manage a pandemic and manage the president at the same time,” the never-Trumper replied, going on with his smug analysis of the comments by Birx.

“This is a really difficult situation for an expert because the first job of an expert is to speak truth to power. It’s to tell the boss, it’s to tell society, it’s to tell your client the truth no matter what it is,” he said. “But of course the president has a long history of firing people who tell him things he doesn’t want to hear. So I think the first thing we have to do is just kind of discount some of that ritualistic cant, and then listen to what they say in their professional capacity.”

While Williams fired up his liberal audience with his condescending display, many viewers slammed his insults and noted the irony of his attack.

CNN commentator Joe Lockhart also caught some much-deserved heat for his insults of Birx over the last days,  accusing her of having “drunk the Kool-Aid” in one tweet with her name misspelled.

“I, for one, am no longer interested in hearing from Dr. Brix,” he tweeted Friday after a coronavirus task force briefing, again misspelling her name.

“Her vouching for Trump’s vast scientific abilities from his business background was the breaking point. Stepford Doc,” he added, referring to the novel “The Stepford Wives.”

Other smug criticisms of Birx were also called out, including earlier in the week when former senior Obama adviser  Daniel Pfeiffer was accused of “mansplaining” to the accomplished Birx.
