Meghan McCain says Tucker Carlson drove to Mar-a-Lago to convince Trump virus was not a ‘hoax’

Despite President Donald Trump receiving widespread praise and approval for his leadership during the global coronavirus pandemic, the co-hosts of ABC’s literally Joy-less “The View” seem to view the matter differently.

And naturally, their views are based on a lie. Typical …

The lie is that the president had believed the coronavirus pandemic to be a “hoax” up until Fox News host Tucker Carlson miraculously rushed to the rescue.

“One of the revelations coming out of this is that it was actually Tucker Carlson that convinced President Trump to start believing in the realities of the coronavirus,” co-host Meghan McCain said Friday on the talk show.

“There are reports that Tucker Carlson actually drove from his house in Florida to Mar-a-Lago to convince President Trump, and this was sourced in multiple places, and he was actually one of the people that ended up changing the president’s mind.”

It’s true that Carlson drove to Mar-a-Lago to speak with the president about the virus in early March.

“I said exactly what I’ve said on TV, which is this could be really bad,” he revealed in an interview with Vanity Fair magazine this week. “My view is that we may have missed the point where we can control it. Once you get cases of community transmission, as we have all over the country now, by then it was clear it was happening.”

However, the idea that Trump had viewed the virus dismissively prior to their discussion doesn’t pass the smell test. Not by a long shot.

The facts show that the Trump administration began taking crucial steps in the battle against the coronavirus long before their fated March 7th meeting:

These steps have only grown in the past couple weeks, with the president now declaring himself a “wartime president,” closing borders and launching unprecedented stimulus plans.

But these facts didn’t stop co-host Sunny Hostin from jumping in to repeat the “hoax” lie again, claiming this time that Trump had been seduced by the anchors on Fox News (sans Carlson) into believing the coronavirus pandemic wasn’t real.

“It is unbelievable when you saw some of the anchors on Fox News calling it a hoax,” she said.

Thanks to the misinformation and disinformation peddled by the mainstream establishment press, Americans such as Hostin are unaware that both the president and his allies had been referring to congressional Democrats’ and the left-wing media’s attempts to politicize the crisis to score political points. THAT was the “hoax.”

Co-host Whoopi Goldberg then offered her take by claiming that, despite the numerous steps that have been taken by Trump to stymie the spread of the coronavirus, the country is currently lacking leadership. As proof, she cited some of the draconian, authoritarian measures being enacted by mostly Democrat governors.

“The interesting thing about all of this is whatever channel you’re watching, you’re still watching from home,” she said. “You’re watching from inside your house.”

“Goldberg said. “Because a pandemic has happened, and you are stuck, and whatever side you’re on, you understand that when you have leadership, you would not — you would not be stuck in your house.”

Citizens in Democrat-led states such as New York and California would not be stuck at home had their governors not instituted “shelter in place” orders, even as they’ve simultaneously given the homeless and criminals a veritable free pass.

In more reasonable states such as Florida, citizens are still allowed to roam freely so long as they abide by CDC guidelines pertaining to social distancing.

To be fair, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci has expressed support for New York and California’s “shelter in place” orders, though some believe his lack of any real-world business experience prevents him from recognizing the dire economic consequences of such draconian orders.
