Rick Scott urges states to step up amid coronavirus: Federal govt can’t solve every problem

Senator Rick Scott (R-Fla.) urged state and local officials to step up and take the lead to combat the Wuhan coronavirus, saying they shouldn’t depend solely on the federal government to do everything for them.

The United States is a Constitutional republic — not an authoritarian, socialist dictatorship where all power is centralized (even though this is what Big-Government leftists want).

“Health care is a locally-delivered system,” said Scott, a former health care industry executive. “So our LOCAL health care systems with our LOCAL county health departments and our LOCAL physicians groups — they all have to get together and figure out, what can they produce that they don’t have?”

Scott continued: “We have to be very creative [and resourceful] at every level: Local, state, and federal. We’ve got to waive [local] regulations to take care [of people]. We are all in a crisis and we all have to do this together.”

Senator Scott also urged individuals to exercise personal responsibility (e.g. – stay calm, wash your hands, avoid crowds) to prevent getting the coronavirus since the federal government cannot wash your hands for you.

“It’s your personal responsibility to figure out [how to protect your own health]. The federal government cannot solve every problem,” Scott said. “We’ve got to have our families, our churches, our mayors, our communities — we ALL have to get together on this and solve the problem. This is a local problem right now. It’s a local health care delivery system.”

Scott’s proactive approach is a stark contrast to New York’s Democrat governor Andrew Cuomo, who whined that the federal government is not fixing the coronavirus issues in his state. If the federal government can run New York State, then why should taxpayers pay Cuomo a salary as their governor?

Rick Scott is a former two-term governor of Florida (2011-2019). Scott shepherded his state through several major crises, including Hurricanes Dorian, Irma, Florence, and Michael.

Had Scott sat on his hands like an entitled leftist and waited for the overburdened federal government to do everything, Florida would’ve been like flailing Puerto Rico — which is STILL in shambles three years after Hurricane Maria (thanks to local-government incompetence and corruption).

Senator Scott is self-quarantining after coming into contact with an infected aide of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro several weeks ago. He has been in isolation for eight days now.

Scott said while he misses his family, he’s doing his part to contain the spread of the coronavirus. So far, it appears he’s not infected. But he’s taking every precaution to make sure this is so.

Sen. Scott says he believes that Americans will weather this crisis and everything will work out fine in the end.

“I think Americans will show up [to do the right thing and beat this], but we’ve got to do some extreme things,” Scott said. “We have to get this testing up this week. We’ve got to secure our borders, and I think that’s going to happen.”

Scott added: “Our governors also have got to figure out how they can make sure we get social distancing — it’s way better for THEM to do it than the federal government.”

Predictably, the Left and their media minions are blaming President Trump for the coronavirus, even though he took decisive, early actions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the United States.

Reminder: These same leftists said nothing when their hero, Barack Obama, waited until millions were infected with the swine flu before acting.
