The latest sign that Hallmark has fully succumbed to the radical left can be seen in the network’s total and complete snub of the pro-life film “Unplanned.”
The movie, based on a true story about Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood director in Texas, was the recipient of three nominations at the annual Movieguide Awards, which recognize Christian and family-friendly entertainment, according to the Washington Examiner.
The nominations included the faith and freedom award for movies, best movie for mature audiences, and the grace prize for movies, but when the awards show aired on Hallmark Drama last week, “Unplanned” lead actress Ashley Bratcher said any reference to the film was cut out of the broadcast completely, the Examiner reported.
“It’s one thing to cut the speech, it happens all the time, but the show completely erased us in the nominee announcements,” Bratcher told the newspaper. “Every other nominee was announced. There’s no excuse, even if they say it’s [because of] time. It takes a millisecond to show our nominee clip.”
An “outraged” Bratcher shared a video clip of her speech that was left on the cutting room floor:
Outraged. Movieguide awards recently aired on @hallmarkdrama & @UnplannedMovie & I were nominated. We were the ONLY nominees who were not recognized. Hallmark has ERASED us from the show and refused to acknowledge us as nominees. This is completely UNACCEPTABLE.@hallmarkchannel pic.twitter.com/n6KZiXnp1k

“It’s all glory to God, and if no one remembers our names when this is over, please remember this: God is so real, he loves you so much, he has a plan for your life, life is precious,” Bratcher said in her speech. “And to every woman facing a crisis situation, please know that you can be successful and be a mother, and that children will enrich your life along the way.”
The film portrays how Johnson was asked to assist with an abortion procedure, and watched on a sonogram as the “clump of cells” tried to escape intrusive implements that led to ending what was clearly a human life — Johnson was transformed by the experience, becoming a strong pro-life advocate.
It wasn’t all that long ago that the Hallmark Channel found itself in public relations nightmare, after the traditionally family-friendly network a marriage commercial that featured two brides kissing at the altar.
Responding to backlash, the network first pulled the ads, then backtracked from the decision after getting hit by the liberal LGBTQ community.
Succumbing to the left, Hallmark said in a statement it will be “working with GLAAD to better represent the LGBTQ community.”
“Across our brand, we will continue to look for ways to be more inclusive and celebrate our differences,” Hallmark Cards CEO Mike Perry said.
Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story from Twitter:
I had to read this a few times to understand what you meant. So, the awards themselves were held and @UnplannedMovie and you, @_AshleyBratcher, were nominated and a part of the awards, but when it was aired, you were cut. #NotOkay

Seriously @hallmarkchannel you should support pro life or you will lose viewers. The irony is the MSM pushes the alphabet agenda for a tiny percent of the population 24/7 My high school senior daughter is mortified by abortion. It’s not a clump of cells!

Sorry @_AshleyBratcher. We’ll be sure to let @HallmarkDrama know how we feel. This movie is so important and can not be silenced. @StephenBaldwin7

Hallmark you are loosing your viewers day by day. Not to accept nominations that were done, it’s a shame and an outrage to all of us who thinks that Unplanned is a movie on a very important issue of our time. And the main character deserves to be recognized as any other nominee
