Bernie Sanders tells white lie as libs whack him like a white privileged pinata

While speaking at the annual Public Education Forum in December, Sen. Bernie Sanders allegedly told what appears to possibly have been a relatively small, unintentional lie.

In response, his growing chorus of establishment Democrat critics again pounced, much as they did last week when popular podcaster Joe Rogan hinted that he may vote for Sanders in the upcoming 2020 Democrat presidential primary elections.

Except this time they came after Sanders for his pesky white privilege.

When asked during the forum last month how many of his peers in elementary school were black, Sanders replied, “One.” When then asked how many of his peers in high school were also black, he said, “A lot more than one.”

Listen:

While this may seem like a completely irrelevant question to conservatives — who, much like civil rights hero Martin Luther King Jr.,  tend to place very little importance on race — it inspired a nearly 3,000-word rebuttal from a far-left Mediaite contributor.

Bernie Sanders graduated Brooklyn’s James Madison High School in 1959, and a review of his 1959 yearbook shows that there were three black students in his graduating class, all of them young women,” far-life contributor Tommy Christopher wrote.

The yearbook only featured individual photos of seniors, but there were two other black students pictured elsewhere in the yearbook who were not part of Sanders’ graduating class.”

The implication from Christopher is that Sanders told a whopper of a lie.

A cursory glance of his Twitter feed suggests that he’s an establishment Democrat who’s virulently anti-Trump and anti-Sanders but likes Warren:

As seen above, the obsessively anti-Trump zealot’s Twitter alias is “Tommy X-TrumpIsARacist-opher” …

Christopher also used his piece to take a shot at the president.

“Sanders’ revelation didn’t create so much as a blip, and it probably never will because we live in a media culture that’s dominated by an impulse for collective white self-forgiveness, and for panic at anything more complicated that an orange ignoramus calling Mexicans ‘rapists’ or praising Nazis as ‘very fine people,'” he wrote.

For someone complaining about Sanders’ alleged lie, Christopher appears to enjoy telling lies of his own.

The president never called Mexicans “rapists.” He said that rapists were among the illegals pouring across the southern U.S. border. This is true.

The president likewise never praised Nazis as “very fine people.” He did, however, note that among the people who attended the “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville three years ago were some “very fine people” who’d only attended the event to protest the removal of Confederate statues.

Christopher continued his piece by bashing Sanders for not being “woke” enough.

“In the present day, Bernie has had trouble gaining traction with black voters, partially due to his demonstrated difficulty at taking criticism, and mostly because his class-centered politics have aged past their usefulness with marginalized people and their allies,” he wrote.

He added that the senator’s opposition to the racist, divisive ideology known as identity politics is particularly troubling.

FYI, President Donald Trump also opposes identity politics:

Christopher concluded by arguing that it would be “valuable” to hear more from Sanders about his past as a privileged white student.

“[I]t would be a valuable thing for voters — particularly the ones he’s having trouble attracting — to hear directly from him about what it was like to go to a school with so few black students, what he observed then, and how he grapples with the educational benefit he derived,” Christopher wrote.

“Unfortunately, he’s unlikely to be asked, but there’s nothing stopping him from spending a town hall or two on the issue.”

While the full piece admittedly contained some praise for Sanders as well, for the most part it seemed like another example of the Democrat establishment (as defined by both the Democrat National Committee and the mainstream left-wing media) going after and trying to weaken non-establishment candidates like Sanders and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard.

As such, the response to Christopher’s piece has been mainly derision, mockery, and disgust:

Note what the latter Twitter user wrote: “Leftists ALWAYS eventually eat their own.”
