California waterways polluted with alarming levels of dangerous fecal bacteria due to homelessness

California’s beaches, rivers, and streams have become contaminated with alarming levels of dangerous fecal bacteria thanks to the liberal state’s escalating homelessness crisis.

President Trump recently spotlighted the terrifying epidemic on Twitter, when he wrote: “We should all work together to clean up these hazardous waste and homeless sites before the whole city rots away. Very bad and dangerous conditions, also severely impacting the Pacific Ocean and water supply. Pelosi must work on this mess and turn her district around!”

Predictably, the Left mocked Trump, saying he was wrong. A San Francisco official even disputed his allegations.

However, experts say Trump is correct: California’s waterways are becoming increasingly polluted with disease-promoting bacteria because homeless people defecate and bathe in public rivers and streams.

This is dangerous not only for them, but for the public at large because the bacteria can cause an infectious disease epidemic. California Healthline reported:

“Fecal contamination of waterways is a widespread problem and becoming more urgent in states with large homeless populations.

In Seattle, homeless people living in RVs are accused of dumping raw sewage straight into storm drains, which flows directly to local waterways. In Oregon, workers cleaning up homeless camps along the Willamette River in Eugene routinely find feces and needles.

In San Diego, the state’s second-most populous county, dozens of homeless encampments line the 52-mile-long San Diego River, which flows into the Pacific Ocean. Officials have for decades recorded high levels of fecal bacteria in the river that exceed state standards.

Farther north, in Sacramento, regulators have been measuring elevated fecal bacteria levels in the lower American River for more than three years. Located near downtown Sacramento, it is a popular destination for water sports, even as hundreds of homeless people camp nearby.”

David Gibson is the executive officer of the San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board. He says his experience with cleaning up homeless encampments confirms that homeless people are routinely dumping human waste into public waterways.

“I’ve carried 5-gallon buckets that were unambiguously being used as toilets,” Gibson said. “They were taking it to the San Diego River, dumping it there, and rinsing it out there.”

While this potentially life-threatening crisis is erupting, California lawmakers like Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, Congresswomen Nancy Pelosi and Maxine Waters, and Congressmen Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell have wasted time and taxpayer money promoting illegal immigration and pushing the sham impeachment.

There is almost no chance that President Trump will be removed, which means this overhyped political theater was a total waste of time and taxpayer money.

Last month, President Trump warned California Gov. Newsom to fix his state’s homelessness epidemic — or he will.

Tent cities have popped up across California, while human waste and drug needles litter the streets.

It’s not surprising that homelessness has spiked in Democrat-led cities in California, as well as in New York, Portland and Seattle, given that these are “sanctuary cities” that harbor illegals.

In their bid to increase their voting bloc by any means necessary, the Left refuses to acknowledge the link between mass illegal immigration and the alarming surge in homelessness among Americans.

Local activists blame California’s left-wing policies for the homelessness epidemic that’s destroying the state.

Dr. Drew Pinsky —  a physician who specializes in drug addiction — warns that an infectious disease epidemic could erupt across California if lawmakers don’t do something to curb the crisis, which has caused city streets to be covered in trash, drugs and human feces.

“We have tens of thousands of people living in tents,” Dr. Pinsky said. “Horrible conditions. Sanitation. Rats have taken over the city. We have multiple rodent-borne, flea-borne illnesses, plague, typhus. We’re gonna have louse-borne illness. If measles breaks into that population, we have tuberculosis exploding.”
