Lou Dobbs: ‘It would be utterly irrational’ for Trump to notify Dems, the very people trying to unseat him

Fox Business host Lou Dobbs called out the “outrageous” whining of Democrats complaining they were not briefed by President Trump ahead of his ordered airstrike in Iraq.

Dobbs brought up the “completely unhinged” reactions from Democrats during a discussion with White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham about the airstrike that killed Iranian Quds Force commander Qasem Soleimani in Baghdad just days after New Year’s attacks on the U.S. Embassy compound in Baghdad.

“I continue to be so disappointed by these Democrats. No matter what this president does, it is not good enough,” Grisham remarked on “Lou Dobbs Tonight” after noting that the president “knew there was imminent danger” before ordering the strike.

“To hear the Democrats, at least many of them, tell it, this was an imposition on a stable world order in the Middle East that only President Trump seems to be able to affect,” Dobbs said. “I mean, it’s outrageous what I’ve heard today… from the Democratic leadership.”

Democrats have been in a tailspin over Trump’s decision to “assassinate” the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ elite Quds Force, Qasem Soleimani, who was reportedly responsible for the deaths of hundreds of U.S troops and was, according to the Pentagon, “actively developing plans to attack” Americans.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi condemned Trump’s decision to order the strike, saying in a statement that “this action was taken without the consultation of the Congress.”

Sen Chris Murphy slammed the president for “knowingly setting off a potential massive regional war” in a tweet on Thursday, prompting retired Army Major General James Marks to tell him to “just be quiet” on the topic.

Sen. Lindsey Graham further enraged Democrats by relating that he was briefed about the imminent strike while visiting with the president in Florida where he has been staying in his Palm Beach resort home for the holidays.

Many reminded the Democrats why they wouldn’t necessarily be trusted if the president had discussed the plan with them.

“You know, Schumer was complaining that he wasn’t briefed, and then when he got briefed today, he was complaining that it wasn’t good enough and he still had questions,” Grisham noted, referring to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.

Author Dinesh D’Souza reacted to the report that the New York Democrat was not made aware of the Pentagon’s plan, tweeting: “Neither were the Iranians, and for pretty much the same reason.” Trump retweeted D’Souza’s post.

“The Democrats should be happy, along with the rest of this country, that American lives were saved, and instead they were complaining that they weren’t notified,” Grisham said. “You know, time is of the essence when things like this are going down, and the president does have constitutional authority to protect Americans when they are in danger.”

“I think Chuck Schumer was born complaining. And I wouldn’t expect any quick change in his behavior,” Dobbs said, going on to make a point about the wisdom of briefing the Democrats.

“I think a good case could be built, it would be utterly irrational of the Trump administration to brief the very people who are trying to unseat him, remove him from power, to overthrow his presidency, and to have done everything in their power to do so,” he remarked.

“I mean, I just can’t understand why a neutral voice in this, say in the national media, isn’t saying, ‘What are the Democrats talking about?’ And why would they expect anything other than to be found untrustworthy by the president of the United States?” Dobbs wondered.

Grisham condemned the general reactions from the mainstream media, saying they are “scaring the American public for ratings.”

“I don’t understand why, again, the media and the Democrats aren’t happy along with the rest of this country that our President took the bold action to kill a murderer,” she said. “We should all be very proud today, and we should all be very happy that American lives were saved.”

“No question about it,” Dobbs agreed.
