Rep. Matt Gaetz slammed the Democrats for the impeachment process and said the only quid pro quo he observed was on the House floor.
The Florida Republican railed against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the strong-arming of Democrat congressional members to go along with the impeachment efforts against President Donald Trump.

Gaetz, along with Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs, spoke with Fox News legal analyst and commentator, Gregg Jarrett who was sitting in on “Hannity” on Monday, discussing the push for impeachment as well as the state of the 2020 Democratic race.
The two Republican lawmakers agreed that the decision to move forward with impeaching the president has been a “huge mistake” for Democrats, with Biggs noting that some of his Democrat colleagues are angry over the process.
“Some of them whom I have talked to quietly aside, they want this to go away, they wish it had never happened,” Biggs said. “But you know what, Nancy Pelosi’s got them because she raises money for them.”
“It’s not just that Nancy Pelosi raises money for her caucus,” Gaetz interjected.
“It’s that they use that money as a political weapon against anyone who potentially would vote against impeachment,” he said.
“Andy and I observed active threats on the House floor that if the Blue Dog Democrats didn’t go along with the radical left of the Democratic Party and support impeachment that they would not be supported by the DCCC,” he added, referring to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
“So that’s the active threat?” Jarrett asked.
“That’s the quid pro quo!” the Florida lawmaker exclaimed.
“We’re going to pull the rug out from under you financially and in every other way,” Jarrett added.
“The only quid pro quo that I observed in this impeachment process was the quid pro quo where if the Democrats didn’t line up behind Nancy Pelosi, as lemmings ready to go off the cliff, that they would then be bludgeoned by their own party in primaries,” Gaetz remarked.
“Well, it may turn out to be just the opposite,” Jarrett added, noting the “severe boomerang” being experienced by Democrats as the attacks on Trump have seemed to only strengthen his support.
In a new Gallup poll released on Monday, Trump even tied with former President Barrack Obama as the most admired man in America for 2019.

Biggs found the tied results to be a “remarkable statement” about how divided the nation is, while he pointed to the admiration people have for Trump for keeping his promise to “drain the swamp.”
“I think the whole world has seen how hard the swamp will try to take you back down,” the Arizona lawmaker said.
Gaetz noted that Pelosi’s ploy to hold back handing the articles of impeachment over to the Senate is like a “hot potato” in that she should actually be trying to move the process along since it is backfiring on her party.
“you’ve got a lot of these members in districts that were won by Donald Trump who will vote for impeachment, but who frankly want it through the legislative digestive system as fast as possible,” he said, adding that the issue has become “all-consuming” and the 2020 election will be a “referendum” on impeachment.
