The police department in Herington, Kansas, has its own version of crime-hoaxer Jussie Smollett. Fortunately, the unidentified rookie cop has resigned after admitting that he wrote “F—–g pig” on his own McDonald’s coffee cup.
Herington Police Chief Brian Hornaday said the unnamed 23-year-old former officer made up the entire story about a McDonald’s drive-through employee writing “F—–g pig” on his coffee cup.
“This was completely and solely fabricated by a Herington police officer who is no longer with our agency,” Hornaday said during a Monday news conference. “The investigation that I conducted showed that this was meant to be a joke. However, we can see how something so serious can get so out of control very, very quickly.”
Hornaday continued: “Moving forward, the Herington Police Department will work tirelessly to regain the loss of trust with both McDonald’s and with the citizens that we serve.”
Hornaday said the rookie cop had just joined the police department two months ago. Hornaday said he will not press criminal charges against the former cop, whose hoax he called a “black-eye for law enforcement.”
“I truly hope the former officer of the Herington Police Department that did this understands the magnitude of the black eye this gives the law enforcement profession from coast to coast,” he said.
Police Chief Brian Hornaday said the name of the former police officer who committed this hoax is being kept confidential because it’s a personnel issue. He noted that the police department has “no reason whatsoever to protect the former officer.”
The brouhaha erupted on Dec. 28, when the unnamed cop accused a McDonald’s drive-through employee of writing “F—–g pig” on his coffee cup. Police Chief Hornaday then shared a photo of the coffee cup on Facebook, where the post went viral.
Hornaday wrote on Facebook: “The US Veteran who continues to serve deserves much more. This is not only bad for McDonald’s, but is also a black eye for Junction City.”
This unusual incident underscores why the media’s glorification of victimhood is fueling reports of hoax crimes and other fake incidents. In this instance, the former cop did not accuse anyone of a crime, nor was there a racial element to it.
However, the escalating anti-police rhetoric from Democratic lawmakers has resulted in cops around the country being assaulted in broad daylight.
Predictably, anti-police liberals are slamming the cop for making up this hoax — and he should be condemned.
However, since President Trump took office, there has been a barrage of fake hoax crimes targeting Trump supporters around the country. Naturally, the media immediately promote the anti-Trump narrative before they verify any of the facts.

In July 2019, Democratic lawmaker Erica Thomas accused a man of yelling: “Go back where you came from!” at a Georgia supermarket.
An investigation later revealed that she yelled those words at him — apparently because she thought he was a white Trump supporter. Not only was the guy a Trump-hating Democrat, but he was Hispanic.
