Actress Anna Kendrick was “entertained” by the many social media comments that prompted her to finally respond to a tweet from New York Islanders player Anthony Beauvillier.
The 22-year-old hockey player took a shot of a different kind on Christmas day as he reached out to Kendrick on Twitter with a simple “Hi @AnnaKendrick47.”

The innocuous message with a hint of flirtation not only eventually drew the attention of the 34-year-old actress and singer, it sparked a social media campaign to convince her that Beauvillier was a worthy prospect as a potential boyfriend.

“These replies have been my entertainment for the last two days,” the “Pitch Perfect” star commented two days after the greeting from the Islanders forward, which had garnered over 55,000 likes on Twitter at the time of this writing.
These replies have been my entertainment for the last two days. Thank you all for regaling me with the true tales of this man’s heroism.

“Thank you all for regaling me with the true tales of this man’s heroism,” she added.
Kendrick is single but is reportedly in a relationship with cinematographer Ben Richardson.
A tweet from former Islanders defenseman Bruno Gervais was among the many comments Beauvillier received after his post, giving a tongue-in-cheek embellishment of the hockey player.
“Remember Beau when you saved me from a burning building, cooked me a 7 course meal and taught me 8 languages, that was a great day,” Gervais wrote.

“Hi Beau, Just wanted to say thank you again for passing on that film role and surgesting [sic] me! Massively appreciate your heart!” actor Matthew Postlethwaite tweeted.
“Dude. You donated all 5 of your kidneys to everyone of my children. Thank you! Thank you! Just in case they need a spare. So generous,” podcaster Dave Wheeler chimed in.

Even hockey fans jumped in to back the player up as someone with real heart.
Hey Anna, everyone’s joking around with fake info but I’m not. He IS the nicest guy, gave me a puck as a rookie, back in 2015, during a rookie scrimmage at Barclays Center. He nodded @ me and returned with it. I was watching hockey live for the 1st time and he hooked me up. pic.twitter.com/we1g9pQtzE

Fans also urged Kendrick to consider successful relationships between other female celebrities and their NHL boyfriends or husbands, including Carrie Underwood and retired NHL player Mike Fisher, Lindsey Vonn and P.K. Subban, as well as Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich.
Cmon Anna! Look at all the successful couples with NHL players! Elisha Cuthbert, Carrie Underwood, Julianne Hough, Lindsay Vonn!

Some gave Kendrick visual incentives.

No telling if all the efforts will pay off in a meet-up between Kendrick and Beauvillier, but all of the comments have been nothing short of entertaining.
Thanks for performing open heart surgery on me man, I appreciate it

He also gave me his kidney. I really didn’t need it but it was nice of him regardless.

Hey Anthony, remember that time you fixed my cable and we watched Twilight and you called it over 10 years ago that cool girl will have an awesome career and probably help launch @disneyplus with a funny Christmas movie?
Funny how memories work.
