Rep. Matt Gaetz slammed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as a “demented non-Santa Claus” for continuing to withhold the articles of impeachment from the Senate.
The Florida Republican made the scathing analogy, and many more, during an appearance on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Thursday, speaking with guest host Mark Steyn who joked that there should be something like the Santa Claus tracker for Pelosi delivering the articles.

“Nancy Pelosi appears to be limping through the back nine of the delivery of the articles of impeachment,” Gaetz said, referring to the Democrat leader’s delay in forwarding to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell the impeachment articles against President Donald Trump.
Steyn played a montage of liberal talking heads praising Pelosi for her “masterful” decision which ultimately delays a Senate trial.
“Listening to that montage you had of the mainstream media giving Nancy Pelosi a proverbial cat bath just reminds me that the rest of us end up stuck with the hairball,” Gaetz said, reacting to the “bizarre circumstance” following Democrats’ previous push for impeachment as an urgent matter that could not be delayed.
“Just weeks ago, it was Jerry Nadler and Eric Swalwell saying things like nothing could be more urgent than this impeachment. Swalwell called it a crime spree in progress, and now Nancy Pelosi sort of holds the articles of impeachment like some demented non-Santa Claus not delivering the gifts to the children,” Gaetz told Steyn.” It’s very strange to observe.”
Trump has been tweeting commentary on the contradictory message from Democrats, lamenting the fact that he has had to defend himself from their sham impeachment while still running the country.

The president also questioned why Democrats claimed he is a threat to national security but won’t move ahead with the impeachment process.

“Why stick it in the bottom drawer and do nothing about it?” Steyn wondered.
“It demonstrates that this was a political process from the beginning,” Gaetz replied.
“What Democrats have done is they’ve really cheapened the impeachment process to any disagreement about the utilization of presidential power, or any disagreement—maybe a president’s different type of approach to a particular problem set, all of a sudden becomes impeachable now,” he said.
“When they say in their court filings that they’re not done investigating articles of impeachment, I actually believe them. Because they have no agenda for the American people. So, they are substituting this process, these investigations and impeachment, for actual legislation that might improve the lives of the people that we’re elected to serve,” Gaetz added.
The congressman noted that the efforts by Democrats have only served to “intensify” support for Trump as he accused the Democratic Party of having “impeachment fever.”
“How about we turn over the calendar in 2020 and just agree to put the American people first, and our country first?” Gaetz asked. “Not just have the revolving carnival of impeachments with Nancy Pelosi as the ring-leader.”
