Tucker breaks down disingenuous new preachiness of the left, and real reason Christians support Trump

Tucker Carlson ripped into the left and South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg in the wake of criticism of President Trump and his Christian supporters.

The Fox News host argued that too many political reporters argue that Buttigieg seems like the most faithful Christian they have ever met, adding that they have “no clue,” during his monologue on “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Monday.

“What does a sincere and faithful Christian look like to you? How about a narcissistic former McKinsey consultant who passionately supports late-term abortion?” Carlson asked.

“Is that the image you conjured in your mind’s eye? Probably not,” he continued. “But looks can apparently deceive because Mayor Pete Buttigieg says he is exactly that — a faithful Christian. Indeed, Buttigieg claims to be so faithful that he literally knows which political party God supports.”

The 2020 Democratic candidate claimed recently that Christianity does not “require you to be a Republican — especially in these times,” and criticized “so-called conservative Christians” in the U.S. Senate during a debate this summer.

He also declared that he couldn’t “imagine” God belonging to the party “that sent the current president into the White House.”

“He’s a preachy little guy, isn’t he?” Carlson said, adding that political reporters can’t tell the difference between real Christian faith and what Buttigieg was spouting.

The Fox News host remarked on the recent controversy stirred up when the magazine Christianity Today called for Trump to be removed from office, setting off fiery backlash as nearly 200 evangelical leaders came to the president’s defense.

Carlson then highlighted how CNN host Chris Cuomo explained to Christian writer Eric Metaxas that “real Christians vote Democrat” as he asked him how he could support “a man who makes a mockery of your faith.” Metaxas flipped the narrative and asked if Trump has made a mockery of Cuomo’s Catholicism.

“If he said he were Catholic, yeah he does — he does not practice humanity, he does not practice decency, he does not love mercy, he is intentionally unkind, he is mean to opponents,” Cuomo replied.

“They’re getting preachy on the left,” Carlson quipped after playing the video clip.

“But embedded in that exchange is an interesting and valid question: Why do faithful Christians overwhelmingly support a president who is not himself a faithful Christian?” he asked.

Carlson went on to note an MSNBC guest who declared that church-going evangelicals are immoral and MSNBC host and civil rights activist Rev. Al Sharpton who announced that Trump supporters would “sell out” Jesus Christ in order to support their “shameless con man” of a president.

“We have reached peak Orwell. You can’t get more dishonest than this or more hilarious. Let’s hope this brand of insanity dies with 2019,” Carlson said.

America’s religious views have been changing, and dramatically so in the Democratic Party, the Fox News host contended, noting how many are aggressively anti-Christian.

“So, if you’re wondering why so many Christians have been willing to support this president despite his personal life, this is why: It’s because whatever his flaws, he’s made it clear that he’s not the enemy of Christians. In fact, under certain circumstances, he will protect Christians,” Carlson said.

“It’s bad enough to be lectured about Christianity by cable news morons who don’t know anything about it. But what’s happening in the broader country is much worse than that, much more threatening,” he added.

“The left presumes the right to lecture the people it despises for the sin of not voting for them,” he concluded. “Now this may shock some Democrats, but most Christians don’t actually think they have a religious duty to be destroyed by people who hate them. They don’t.”
