Sen. Lindsey Graham revealed that President Donald Trump is “mad as hell” about the delay in relaying the articles of impeachment to the Senate.

The South Carolina Republican believes Democrats are suffering from “buyer’s remorse,” as he spoke to Fox News anchor Bret Baier about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi not handing the over to the Senate the articles of impeachment that the House passed in a party-line vote late Wednesday.

“Let me ask you about the Speaker holding back these articles and what that means in your eyes and what do you think is next?” Baier said Thursday on ” Special Report.”

“The most obvious explanation is, it’s the dog that caught the car, buyer’s remorse. They don’t know what to do. Their assumption was that impeachment would sell with the American people – it’s fallen apart. They have no case. They don’t know what to do next. This is a political stunt that’s very dangerous,” Graham replied.

The Senate Judiciary Committee chairman slammed the move as a “political stunt” which he called “dangerous.”

“I just met with the president and he is demanding his day in court. Every American accused of a crime or wrongdoing gets their day in court. Apparently except Donald Trump. And if you believe that the Clinton impeachment trial was fair, that’s exactly the same type of trial that will happen in the Senate with President Trump,” Graham explained.

“I just left President Trump. he’s mad as hell that they would do this to him and now deny him his day in court. The reason they’re denying his day in court is because they know their case sucks,” he added bluntly.

Republican lawmakers have been denouncing the ploy by Democrats to hold back the articles from the Senate in an effort to influence how the proceedings are handled. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell declared that there has been no agreement on the steps in an impeachment trial in the Senate.

The Kentucky Republican announced Thursday that “we remain at an impasse,” blaming Democrats and Minority Leader Chuck Schumer who continue “to demand a new and different set of rules for President Trump.”

Other GOP lawmakers have also spoken out.

Trump noted that Democrats are avoiding a Senate trial because their case is “so bad.”

He also demanded he is given an “immediate trial.”

“So what is the next step?” Baier asked Graham Thursday. “You’re saying he wants his day in court. How does that happen if the articles don’t move over immediately in the beginning of January?”

“Everybody in America who believes in the rule of law as often used by my Democratic colleagues is the rule of law in America in place for Donald Trump? Everybody, including Donald Trump, should have their day in court,” Graham replied.

“So I’m going to do everything I can to talk about this constitutional outrage, denying the president the constitutional road map laid out to dispose of impeachment. I think the political pressure on these 31 Democrats are going to be enormous,” he added, referring to vulnerable Democrats currently representing districts that were won by Trump in 2016.

“No one has ever done this before. The reason she doesn’t want to send the case over because the case is falling apart before the American people’s eyes and it’s unfair to the president to hold this over his head and it’s unfair to tell Mitch McConnell how to conduct the trial,” Graham asserted.

“It’s not Nancy Pelosi’s job to conduct the trial. It’s Mitch McConnell’s working with Chuck Schumer. I don’t think Chuck Schumer is interested in a fair trial for Donald Trump,” he added. “But what will happen is a trial very similar to what President Clinton experienced.”
