Though recent polling data has made it clear that the Democrats’ impeachment obsession is engendering disastrous consequences for them, including chances they might face a blowout in 2020, they’ve reportedly chosen to quadruple down.
Not only are they now attempting to essentially relitigate some aspects of the Russia collusion investigation, which found President Donald Trump effectively innocent of all charges, but they’re looking to continue investigating the president, which suggests they plan to impeach him again.
In a court filing Monday, the House Judiciary Committee specifically demanded access to secret grand jury information from special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into the since-debunked Russian collusion delusion conspiracy theory and hoax.
This information allegedly contains “certain redacted materials [that] pertain to a Trump Campaign member’s dealings with Ukraine, and bear on whether the President committed impeachable offenses by soliciting Ukrainian interference in the 2020 Presidential election,” the filing reads.
“The withheld material is needed to evaluate President Trump’s solicitation of an announcement by Ukraine that it was launching an investigation into former Vice President Joe Biden, President Trump’s political rival, and into alleged Ukrainian interference in the 2016 U.S. Presidential election,” the filing continues.
“Understanding the circumstances surrounding President Trump’s solicitation of those investigations is vital to informing the consideration of the Articles of Impeachment.”
The full filing may be read below:
The nature of the filing raises serious questions about what exactly Democrats are trying to accomplish.
They claim in their filing that they want this information so that it may be used in Trump’s Senate trial, and so that it may likewise be used to “continue” their own investigation.
“As the Committee recently explained, should the Committee obtain the withheld material, ‘it would be utilized, among other purposes, in a Senate trial on these articles of impeachment, if any,'” the filing notes.
“And the Committee ‘has continued and will continue [its impeachment] investigations consistent with its own prior statements respecting their importance and purposes.’ The withheld material could inform those investigations as well.”
But what’s the point? The outcome of the Senate trial is already known.
Moreover, what else is there left to investigate? Mueller already effectively acquitted the president on collusion and obstruction, and the Democrats already decided that Trump’s guilty of corruption as it pertains to Ukraine, contrary to overwhelming evidence that says otherwise.
Some appear to believe that Democrats intend to impeach the president again, though to be clear, the actual filing makes no mention of this.
The filing only suggests “that additional charges on obstruction of justice are potentially in the offing,” Dan Abrams’ demonstrably left-wing Law & Crime notes.
Though according to The Hill, Democrats have been trying to make it seem as if the obstruction of justice information is somehow relevant to the Ukraine matter.
The Judiciary Committee has “long held out the possibility that Trump’s alleged obstruction of Mueller’s nearly two-year probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election and possible collusion with the Trump campaign could prove critical to the impeachment inquiry,” the outlet notes.
“The Monday court filing shows Democrats doubling down on that argument even as the impeachment process moves quickly and after the House committees involved unveiled two impeachment articles that focused narrowly on Trump’s alleged abuse of power over his dealings with Ukraine and the administration’s obstruction of Congress.”
Long story short, it appears Democrats are playing games (as usual) in a bid to prep themselves for a second impeachment of America’s duly elected president.
The theory certainly fits, given the increasing number of Democrats who have come out in recent days in support of impeaching the president again, even if he beats the current case (which he will) and goes on to win reelection next year.
The Democrats’ harassment of @realDonaldTrump won’t end until the day he leaves office.
We now have multiple Democrats – publicly – talking about their next impeachment coup.
Americans deserve so much better than this partisan, vindictive charade. https://t.co/vcwcS7sdo3

Wow.
Democrats concede that #impeachment will never end.
They now admit there may be another impeachment attempt against President Trump once he is re-elected.
This partisan sham has to stop.https://t.co/VGea023yId

It’s a never-ending Democrat impeachment quest. In case you needed another indicator that this is all about politics and not about the facts. #ImpeachmentShamhttps://t.co/3RIfQxS1pL

The House Democrats have been trying to impeach our President for over 2 years now – this is nothing new…
While they continue to play games, @realDonaldTrump is making international deals, confirming judges, and Making America Great Again!

Meanwhile, as Democrats continue to double, triple, quadruple and quintuple down on their impeachment obsession, the polling data keeps getting worse for them.
A CNN poll published Monday revealed that support for impeaching the president has dropped from 50 percent last month to 45 percent this month, while support for impeachment among Democrats specifically has dropped from 90 percent to 77 percent.
And as of Sunday, polling averages maintained by RealClearPolitics show that for the first time, a plurality of Americans oppose impeachment/removal versus support it.
RCP average of impeachment polling shows slightly more anti-impeachment and removal support than for it for the first time since the investigation began.

But for reasons that only a trained psychiatrist could decipher, Democrats appear to be 100 percent confident that more impeachment investigations are the ticket to electoral success …
