This may be the season to sport an ugly Christmas sweater but many Walmart shoppers were shocked by a recent offering by the retailer.
Walmart issued apologies this weekend for any “unintended offense” caused by eyebrow-raising sweaters featuring Santa Claus, with one that appeared to show him with cocaine, that appeared on its Canadian website, Global News Canada reported.

The sweater, made by clothing company FUN Wear, showed Saint Nick and three lines of a white substance along with the phrase “let it snow.”

“We all know how snow works. It’s white, powdery and the best snow comes straight from South America,” a description for the sweater read. “That’s bad news for jolly old St. Nick, who lives far away in the North Pole. That’s why Santa really likes to savor the moment when he gets his hands on some quality, grade A, Colombian snow.”

“This is the best ugly Christmas sweater copy ever written,” one user shared.

The various offerings of sweaters included many with Santa in compromising situations, prompting many reactions on social media where users expressed everything from amusement to shock over the collection on the Walmart site. One of the designs even featured an image of Santa roasting his “chestnuts” in front of a fireplace and another with Mrs. Claus.
“Santa has been naughty funny and inappropriate ugly Christmas Sweater,” the description read. “Be the star of your ugly Christmas sweater party with this gem. This plus size full figured Christmas sweater, unlike our other styles, is very blunt in its humor. You will definitely be remembered along with this sweater.”
Walmart pulled the apparel and issued an apology on Saturday.
“These sweaters, sold by a third-party seller on Walmart.ca, do not represent Walmart’s values and have no place on our website,” a spokesperson told Global News on Saturday. “We have removed these products from our marketplace. We apologize for any unintended offence this may have caused.”
Earlier this month, Amazon had an issue with a third-party seller offering Christmas decorations and other items with Auschwitz imagery depicting the German camp in German-occupied Poland where more than one million people, mostly Jews, were killed by Nazis during World War II.

After a flood of backlash over the third-party products, Amazon removed the items.
Walmart’s Santa sweaters caused a flurry of reaction on social media where comments continued even after the items were yanked off the website. While some were shocked by the selections, others lamented society’s loss of a sense of humor.
Apologize? Walmart should be requiring us to thank them.

It clearly says they’re adult themed. So I fail to see the problem here. These are hilarious!

Actually think it’s funny. Even more so if any liberal is offended. Who am I kidding? Libs are offended 24/7.

Bloody hell people. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it. Move on. End of story.
