Woman’s naughty ‘Peloton girl’ spoof goes viral

A parody video of the now-infamous Peloton holiday gift commercial has gone viral for its spoof of the “tone-deaf” advertisement.

Writer and comedian Eva Victor earned laughter and praise for her clip making fun of “The Gift That Gives Back” commercial which itself went viral but for all the wrong reasons.

The original commercial spot sparked a social media meltdown as Twitter users shredded the ad, the storyline and the characters for all the creepy underlying messages.

As the wife in the original 30-second Peloton ad, Victor’s character received the “f—— workout bike for Christmas” as a gift from her husband. She documented her workout journey as the original wife did, but wondered about the motives of her “sociopath” husband.

The original Peloton woman documented her workouts for a year before delivering a montage of the clips to her gift-giving husband.

“A year ago, I didn’t realize how much this would change me,” she said. “Thank you.”

By the end of the 55-second parody, Victor declared she is changed too, adding, “Babe, I want a divorce.”

“Here, these are for you,” she says, handing the off-screen husband a yellow envelope of “divorce papers.”

The comedian’s short spoof sparked a whole new wave of Peloton reaction with countless Twitter users applauding the “brilliantly done” video.

Some Twitter users were even inspired with their own video ideas.

Victor’s skit on Twitter has been re-tweeted over 30,000 times and has garnered over more than 186,000 likes. The over 30,000 comments as of this writing are certainly more positive than the ones Peloton has been getting for its original endeavor.

Shares of Peloton fell more than 9% amid the backlash, costing almost $942 million to its market value in just one day. The comments about the equipment, which starts at $2,245 with family packages going up to more than $2,600, have continued to come in from every corner on Twitter.

But Victor’s parody video had some Twitter users admitting they wouldn’t have minded getting the expensive gift – and the husband – themselves.
