Fox Business host Lou Dobbs slammed Georgia Governor Brian Kemp for snubbing President Trump by picking Atlanta businesswoman Kelly Loeffler to fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by the retiring Johnny Isakson.
Isakson is stepping down due to health issues. His current term was not set to expire until 2023. Kelly Loeffler said she plans to run in the 2020 special election to complete Isakson’s term.
Dobbs reminded viewers that Trump had supported Kemp during his contested November 2018 election win over failed Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams.
“In the state of Georgia, Brian Kemp [is] the governor who was elected without any equivocation or reservation because President Trump stood with him,” Dobbs said. “He is now telling the president of the United States to go to hell. He’s going to tap Kelly Loeffler — a big donor and Mitt Romney ally — to take the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Johnny Isakson.”
President Trump had lobbied Kemp to pick Congressman Doug Collins for the vacant senate seat.

GOP strategist Ed Rollins replied: “I think it’s unfortunate, but that’s [Kemp’s] prerogative to do it. To a certain extent, it’s some kind of parochial politics in Georgia.”
Dobbs retorted: “Is this in point of fact a man who was never a Trump supporter who is going to tear asunder the Republican Party with these acts?”
Rollins quipped: “At the end of the day, the president will be up in a year and he will do very well in Georgia. And everybody else will get back in line.”
That caused Dobbs to reply: “Politics is sordid business.”
Many Republicans have slammed Kelly Loeffler for her ties to a pro-abortion health system. They also claim that she’s not a true Trump supporter.
Loeffler does not follow President Trump on Twitter and has never donated to his campaign.
Loeffler is a businesswoman who was most recently the CEO of Bakkt, a bitcoin futures platform.
Loeffler has been married since 2004 to Jeffrey Sprecher, the chairman of the New York Stock Exchange and the founder/CEO of Intercontinental Exchange.
In her acceptance speech today (Dec. 4), Loeffler said:
“My name is Kelly Loeffler. I am a devoted wife, a proud patriot and a devout Christian.
I’m not a career politician or even someone who’s run for office. I’ve spent the last 25 years building businesses, taking risks and creating jobs. I haven’t spent my life trying to get to Washington.
I’m a lifelong conservative, pro-Second Amendment, pro-Trump, pro-military and pro-wall. I make no apologies for my conservative values and I look forward to supporting President Trump’s conservative judges.
I am strongly pro-life. The abortion-on-demand agenda is immoral. In the Senate I look forward to supporting S.160, Senator Lindsey Graham’s 20-week abortion ban.
In Washington, I will work with President Trump to continue the incredible economic progress our nation has seen. Because of our president’s policies, we’re growing our economy and jobs at a record pace.”
Loeffler also trashed the Democrats’ sham impeachment stunt, calling it a waste of time and taxpayer money.
“I am angered by the impeachment circus. I oppose it. It’s a distraction and a sideshow. Just imagine what could be done if Democrats would stop fighting President Trump and playing politics and start working together.
Make no mistake: Washington Democrats want to overturn much more than an election. They want to overturn our way of life because they resent America’s success. They can’t tell you how much their socialist ideas will cost. They don’t care how many jobs will be destroyed, and they can’t even agree that they want to protect our borders. The only thing they agree on is that they hate Donald Trump.
Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, that whole socialist gang in Washington – they’ve taken over the Democrat Party and they will not stop until America bends to their every demand, and everything that has made our country great is destroyed.
This is the fight of our generation and this is why I’m here. I’m Kelly Loeffler. This is who I am and this is what I believe.”
