President Trump fired a shot at Newsweek after its embarrassing and completely inaccurate prediction of his Thanksgiving Day plans.
The president, who headed to his Florida home, Mar-a-Lago, for Thanksgiving this week, reacted to a tweet by his son on the holiday after Newsweek published a story entitled, “How is Trump spending Thanksgiving? Tweeting, golfing and more.”

“I thought Newsweek was out of business?” Trump tweeted, in response to Donald Trump Jr.’s post which declared, “Fake news gonna fake!” along with a screenshot of the Newsweek story side by side with photos of what the president actually did on the holiday.
Trump made a surprise visit to U.S. troops in Afghanistan on Thanksgiving and met with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani during the stealth trip.

“There is nowhere that I’d rather celebrate this Thanksgiving than right here with the toughest, strongest best and bravest warriors on the face of the Earth,” President Trump told the troops during his first visit to Afghanistan.
“We flew 8331 miles to be here tonight for one simple reason, to tell you in person that this Thanksgiving is a special Thanksgiving,” the president told them. “We’re doing so well. Our country is the strongest economically it has ever been.”

“He and Mrs. Trump recognize that there’s a lot of people far away from their families during the holidays and we thought it’d be a nice surprise,” White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said. “It’s truly about Thanksgiving and supporting the troops.”
And as Trump proved again how he honors American service members, choosing to have a meal and serve them thousands of miles from home, in another country, he was being celebrated for taking a stand against human rights violations in China.
Pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong showed their thanks in a rally honoring Trump and the United States, taking to the streets singing The Star Spangled Banner, waving American flags and holding pictures of Trump.

Back at home, the left-wing media like Newsweek showed its true colors again in the attempt to mock the president. His dismissive taunt, and a jab from Grisham, must have left a mark.
Hi @Newsweek – we’re actually on our way back from Afghanistan right now. @realDonaldTrump served Thanksgiving dinner to members of the military & thanked them for their incredible service to our country. Standing by for you to delete this completely false tweet. https://t.co/trYHUNtgxf

Apparently Newsweek felt the heat:
Newsweek deleted this tweet after getting demolished for their arrogance and hatred when it was revealed that President Trump made a surprise appearance in Afghanistan to serve the troops Thanksgiving dinner. pic.twitter.com/34RON0eBsR

You don’t need a master’s in journalism to know what’s wrong here. Newsweek went with a story before they had the facts, and surely did so because what they ran with was unflattering to Trump.
That is journalistic malpractice. Even if you hate Trump, this isn’t helpful. pic.twitter.com/gQbCg2jniJ

But Twitter users were not done torching the publication and its “fake news” prediction.
Check the timestamps. When Newsweek posted this, Trump had just landed in Afghanistan pic.twitter.com/AH83s3ROlp

Media: Claims Trump is tweeting and golfing.
Reality: Trump is in Afghanistan feeding the troops a nice Thanksgiving dinner.
Journalists need to do better.

Newsweek should be out of business. And Jessica Kwong should be out of a job.

Newsweek… published an unconfirmed story about Trump, then updated hours later with one line about him visiting troops at the end…leaving the misleading headline.

Newsweek was harder on Trump for what they thought he’d do this holiday than they were on Obama for actually being seen laughing and golfing a few hours after announcing ISIS chopped off an American’s head and he wasn’t sure what to do about it yet.

What did @Newsweek get for Thanksgiving dinner? Egg on their faces!
