Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders — a “socialist” millionaire who owns three lavish homes — trashed billionaire businessman Mike Bloomberg because he has the audacity to run for president using his own money.
“We do not believe that billionaires have the right to buy elections, and that is why we are going to overturn Citizens United,” Sanders said yesterday (Nov. 24) during a CNN town hall. “That is why multi-billionaires like Mr. Bloomberg are not going to get very far in this election.”
Specifically, Sanders was upset because former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg spent $30 million in ad buys last week.
The ads target anti-Trump (not Democrats), so it’s unclear why Bernie is mad at Bloomberg for doing his job, which is to try to convince voters to vote President Trump out.
For the record, Bloomberg’s net worth tops $56 billion, so a $30 million ad buy is less than one-tenth of 1% of his entire fortune.
The corporation that Mike Bloomberg founded in 1981, Bloomberg LP, employs 20,000 people. How many jobs has Bernie created?
Unlike socialist Bernie Sanders — whose specialty is wasting OPM (Other People’s Money) — Bloomberg is financing his campaign on his own. This way, Bloomberg is not beholden to Wall Street mega-donors and Washington lobbyists, unlike Bernie and the Democratic Party.
Senator Sanders ranted: “Mr. Bloomberg, to the best of my knowledge, has very little grassroots support. But he has decided that because he’s worth $55 billion, he can run for president of the United States and spend more money on TV ads, I suspect, than any candidate in the history of the United States.”
Bernie continued: “So what our job is, is to fight for democracy. Democracy means that billionaires cannot buy elections. Democracy means we move to public funding of elections.”
Basically, Democrats are furious that Bloomberg — a moderate liberal — formally announced that he’s running for president after expressing dismay with the current Democratic field. Bloomberg said he entered the race because his party has migrated too far to the left, and therefore has no chance of beating President Trump in 2020.
Mike Bloomberg was a Democrat who became a Republican and then switched to being an Independent during his political career. As a three-term mayor of New York City, Bloomberg was praised for reducing crime, cleaning up the city’s dirty streets, installing bike lanes, and improving the city’s infrastructure.
No matter what criticism anyone has about Bloomberg, there is widespread consensus that he was a far better mayor than communist Bill de Blasio has ever been.

Meanwhile, Democratic socialist Bernie Sanders talks a big game promoting himself as a champion of poor people. However, recent tax returns show that Bernie earned $1,073,333 in a single year but gave just $10,600 to charity. That’s less than 1% of his income.
According to recent data, people who earned similar amounts gave an average of 5.6% of their income to charity. Keep in mind that Sanders has repeatedly insisted that everyone — especially the rich — should pay MUCH more in taxes.
In contrast to cheapskate Bernie, Mike Bloomberg has donated over $6 billion to charity. He also pledged to give away almost all of his fortune during his lifetime and beyond.
Sanders has said that if he’s elected, he wants American taxpayers to fund abortions around the world, claiming this will combat climate change.
Bernie’s most high-profile endorsement so far came from freshman Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who claims that illegal aliens work harder than you and me.
Reminder: AOC wants you to pay more taxes, even though she hasn’t paid her own taxes from 2012. (Our taxes pay her salary.)
At a Sanders rally last month, Ocasio-Cortez told the crowd that, “Everybody has a right to health care. Everybody has a right to an education!”
Free education, free housing, and free healthcare for all sounds awesome! But who’s going to pay for all that — especially if you’re also promoting mass illegal immigration and continuing U.S. intervention in Middle East civil wars? There’s only so much OPM (Other People’s Money) to go around.
Ths should scare every American: Bernie said if elected, AOC would play a “very important role” in his administration. This time last year, Ocasio Cortez was a bartender.
