Three Democratic senators sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to U.S. Attorney General William Barr, seeking documents regarding a rumored demand by President Trump that Barr hold a press conference clearing him of any wrongdoing during his July phone call with Ukraine’s president.
Senators Kamala Harris, Richard Blumenthal, and Sheldon Whitehouse filed the FOIA request on Nov. 8, according to the Hill. In a statement, the trio went through their usual shtick of accusing President Trump of wrongdoing.
“We submit this FOIA request in order to obtain communications, documents, and other information related to the president’s reported request that you hold a news conference to clear him of wrongdoing during his call with the Ukrainian president.
“[There are] serious concerns about the president’s perception of the Justice Department as a partisan political instrument and his willingness to use the power of federal law enforcement in pursuit of his own objectives.”
However, both Barr and the White House denied the rumor (from an anonymous source), which was reported by the Washington Post. Even if Trump had asked Barr to hold the press conference, it wouldn’t have been illegal anyway.
In a statement, White House spokesperson Hogan Gidley said President Trump respects the independence of the Department of Justice.
“The President has nothing but respect for AG Barr and greatly appreciates the work he’s done on behalf of the country — and no amount of shady sources with clear intent to divide, smear, and slander will change that.
The DOJ did in fact release a statement about the call, and the claim that it resulted in tension because it wasn’t a news conference is completely false.”
President Trump also shot down the “Fake Washington Post con job.”

As it is, the President broke no laws during his July 25 call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
However, the White House and Barr deny that Trump had demanded the Attorney General hold a press conference to make this clear.

The Democrats are trying to impeach Trump based on an anonymous complaint from a left-wing “whistleblower” claiming that he had pressured Ukraine’s president to investigate Joe Biden’s shady Ukraine dealings.
Democrats claim that Trump had threatened to withhold financial and military aid from Ukraine unless it investigated Biden. However, Ukraine never investigated Biden, and Trump gave Ukraine all the financial and military aid it requested. So there was literally no harm done.
The “whistleblower” complaint was based on hearsay because the Democratic “whistleblower” was not on the call.
However, all the principal parties on the call — including the Ukrainian president, Ukraine’s foreign minister, and President Trump — deny that Trump pressured Ukraine.
The Democrats are targeting Attorney General William Barr right now because the DOJ will soon release a damning report on the corrupt origins of the sham Russia collusion investigation and the multiple FISA abuses committed by Obama holdovers at the FBI and DOJ.

While Democrats said nothing about Obama’s cozy relationships with his AGs Loretta Lynch and Eric Holder, they’re attacking William Barr, accusing him of being overzealous in his defense of President Trump amid Congress’ endless investigations.
Barr dismissed left-wing complaints and underscored that he’s fighting for the presidency more so than advocating for President Trump per se because the Democrats’ nonstop obstruction of a sitting president damages the office itself.
“I felt the rules were being changed to hurt Trump, and I thought it was damaging for the presidency over the long haul,” Barr said in May 2019.
Imagine what foreign countries think when they see that one political party constantly undermines the duly-elected leader of the United States. That emboldens them to dismiss the authority of the American president and erodes America’s standing on the world stage.
Barr underscored that the executive branch needs to be strong and independent and not subordinate to partisan legislators who want the president to fail.
“If you destroy the presidency and make it an errand boy for Congress, we’re going to be a much weaker and more divided nation,” Barr said.
Until Barr was appointed Attorney General in February 2019, he was a respected litigator who was widely admired for his integrity. But as soon as he joined the Trump administration, he was attacked as a partisan puppet. That couldn’t be farther from the truth.
For one, Barr is a Bush acolyte. And as everyone knows, the Bush family despises Donald Trump and even voted against him. Barr was U.S. Attorney General under George W. Bush, so this isn’t his first time at the rodeo.
