Because the “journalists” at MSNBC were unwilling to do their jobs, it took Freedom Caucus member Rep. Matt Gaetz appearing on the network late Thursday morning to expose the racism and sexism of congressional Democrat Rep. Jackie Speier.
“Did Jackie Speier identify my race and my gender in the context of my activities as a member of Congress yesterday?” he asked rhetorically to network host Hallie Jackson.
Yes, in fact, she did.

During an appearance that morning on the network, the congresswoman bemoaned her Republican colleagues’ decision a day earlier to storm a closed-door House Intelligence Committee impeachment hearing.
But instead of complaining about the alleged security risks inherent in the Republicans’ actions or following fellow Democrat Rep. Joaquin Castro’s lead and kvetching about the Republicans’ “mob” behavior, Speier chose to lob an arguably racist and sexist attack against them.
“What happened yesterday was a high school prank by a bunch of 50-year-old white men,” she said to MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski.
“The Republicans are whining because the president is whining and frankly I think they did what they did yesterday because the president was whining that they weren’t fighting for him hard enough.”
Brzezinski, arguably a far-left activist who purports to be a “journalist,” of course let the remark slide, which she is wont to do anytime any Democrat says anything. The “journalist,” who made headlines herself only two months ago when she falsely accused President Donald Trump of wanting mass shootings to occur, giggled in agreement.

Appearing on the network a couple of hours later, Gaetz went ahead and performed Brzezinski’s job for her and pushed back on the congresswoman’s anti-white and anti-male rhetoric.
“Did she say we were a bunch of white men? What does the fact that we are white men have to do with our desire to represent the millions of constituents we serve?” he said.
“I was deeply offended. When Jackie Speier walks in, I don’t say a white woman comes in. This is the type of identity politics from the left that seems to permeate any substantive or procedural arguments they make and it’s sickening to me that’s how we would be thought of. People we serve are diverse and it’s just really kind of sickening.”

Identity politics has become the cornerstone of contemporary Democrat politics. Instead of discussing issues, facts and logic, members of the left — including those in the media — often resort to discussing race, gender, and other immutable traits.
Identity politics is the antithesis of actual progress, which is ironic given that liberal Democrats tend to identify themselves as so-called “progressives.”
“Normal politics — liberal politics, classically understood — involves speech, argument, and persuasion, followed by voting on ideas or proposals that can be overturned in the next election cycle,” a Joshua Mitchell wrote for National Review in 2017.
It’s not clear if the Joshua Mitchell who wrote for NRO is the same Joshua Mitchell who’s a professor of political theory at Georgetown University.
Nevertheless, the piece continued, “Normal politics presumes that we can rise far enough above our small-group attributes — our race, class, gender, ethnicity, religion — and that we can arrive at a political arrangement that works well enough for us to live together as part of a larger polity until the next election, when we commence the process again.”
Identity politics, on the other hand, “rejects the model of traditional give-and-take politics, presupposing instead that the most important thing about us is that we are white, black, male, female, straight, gay, and so on.”
It is itself a racist ideology — one that’s been wholly embraced by the Democrat Party.
What Gaetz failed to mention, however, was that Speier’s remarks weren’t just arguably racist and sexist — they were factually incorrect. Video footage from the storming of the hearing on Wednesday shows what appear to be some women participants.

But none of these facts mattered to Brzezinski. Nor did it matter to her when Speier called for denying pay to Trump administration officials who refuse to comply with her colleagues’ subpoenas.
“If a staff member, a federal employee refuses to meet with Congress, they should be in a position where they lose their salary for a period of time,” the congresswoman said.
“We should use inherent contempt, which we haven’t done, which would bring people to the House floor. They could be questioned there and then if they don’t comply.”
“Inherent contempt, what is that? What does that mean, how do you pull that trigger?” Brzezinski then asked in hushed excitement.
“Well, it’s done very simply by the House taking action to hold someone in inherent contempt, and it was used over a hundred times in the last two centuries. but we haven’t used it here since 1935,” the congresswoman replied.
“Would that solve the problem of the lack of access to information, people, and answers?” Brzezinski then asked without once noting that there may be legitimate reasons for the Democrats’ “lack of access.”
“I think that money always solves problems, doesn’t it?” Speier said. “If you’re losing your salary or being fined, then there is a reason to comply with the law.”
Brzezinski, a so-called “journalist,” failed to mention that previous attempts to withhold the salary of executive officials have been blocked by the courts. Nor did she list out the litany of reasons why the Trump administration has been unwilling to comply with Democrats’ increasingly draconian requests.
