The luxury fashion brand Chanel has chosen Teddy Quinlivan, a 25-year-old American male who identifies as a “transgender woman,” to be the face of its new Beauty campaign.

“The model and activist has announced she is the first openly transgender model to be tapped by Chanel Beauty for an advertising campaign,” the fashion industry trade journal Women’s Wear Daily reported Tuesday.

“Quinlivan shared the news on her Instagram account, posting a video and image from the campaign along with a heartfelt quote on the significance of this role.”

In his about 250-word “quote,” Quinlivan spoke in detail of what he’s been through.

?CHANEL BEAUTY? -I find I don’t cry anymore when things are sad, but isn’t it interesting when we shed tears in moments of triumph. This was one of those triumphant cry moments for me. My whole life has been a fight. From being bullied at school consistently, kids threatening to kill me and going into graphic detail how they were going to do it, my own father beating me and calling me a fagot, to receiving industry blowback after speaking publicly about being sexually assaulted on the job… This was a victory that made all of that shit worth it. I had walked 2 shows for Chanel while I was living in stealth ( stealth meaning I hadn’t made my trans identity public yet) and when I came out I knew I’d stop working with some brands, I thought I’d never work with the iconic house of Chanel ever again. But here I am in Chanel Beauty Advertising. I am the first openly trans person to work for the house of Chanel, and I am deeply humbled and proud to represent my community. The world will kick you down, spit on you, and tell you you’re worthless. It’s your job to have the strength to stand up and push on, to keep fighting, Because if you give up then you will never experience the tears of triumph. Thank you to everyone who made this dream a reality! @nicolaskantor @shazmakeup @sebastienrichard1 @casadevallbelen

It’s true that members of the transgender community face more abuse and bullying than average, in part because their lifestyle differs so drastically from societal norms and biological reality.

Part of the problem is that there’s great disagreement over how to treat gender dysphoria. While some medical professional say it’s a “mental disorder” that ought to be treated like any other mental affliction, others allege it’s a lifestyle choice that should be promoted.

Because of a growing stigma against those who subscribe to traditional biological science and worry about the effects transgender ideology is having on young children, it’s becoming increasingly difficult for concerned parents to do anything these days to help their child if and when their child begins displaying symptoms of gender dysphoria.

Continuing his post, Quinlivan described how he’d originally entered the modeling business and even worked for Chanel under the false pretense (i.e., lie) that he was a biological woman. That changed in 2017, when he revealed his real gender to the world. His fear at the time had been that Chanel would never want to work with him again. But it turns out he’d been wrong.

“I had walked 2 shows for Chanel while I was living in stealth (stealth meaning I hadn’t made my trans identity public yet) and when I came out I knew I’d stop working with some brands, I thought I’d never work with the iconic house of Chanel ever again,” he wrote.

“This is such an exciting time to be alive if you’re a member of the LGBTQ community, especially if you’re [transgender] because trans girls are just out here f–king killing it,” he reportedly added in an Instagram Stories post.

“There is no glass ceiling that is unbreakable, like this is our moment to seize the world and we just have to keep fighting and keep getting ourselves out there and making a difference and bringing exposure to the trans community to the forefront of the global stage.”

Conversely, it’s not such a great time to be alive if you’re opposed to transgender ideology in any way, shape or form. The argument could even be made that some of the very same transgender folks who were bullied as children have grown up to be bullies themselves.

Ergo, you have cases of “transgender women” demanding that biological women wax their genitals and that they be granted access to women and young girls’ restrooms.

And, more notably, you have countless cases of transgender activists and their allies, one, forcing their ideology down the throats of those who’d rather simply be left alone to live peacefully, and two, benefiting from special privileges not afforded to anybody else.
