Suzanne Somers celebrated her birthday by boldly sharing a a photo of herself in the nude.
The actress best known for her role on the sitcom “Three’s Company” made a spontaneous decision to go “au naturel” on her 73rd birthday and posted the photo taken by her husband, Alan Hamel.
Somers gave Page Six the scoop Monday on what led to her sharing the viral photo with her thousands of social media followers.
“We’ve lived in the same house for 43 years,” she told the publication from Las Vegas where she was celebrating her birthday with her husband and planning to see a performance by Lady GaGa.
“We were wandering along one of the paths … and I took my top down,” she recounted about the walk she and Hamel were taking on their 73-acre California property. “It was hot. The flowers were flowering, the bees were bee-ing … it just seemed like the right thing to do.”
“He’s seen me naked before,” she quipped about Hamel, to whom she has been married since 1973.
He reportedly shot the photo of Somers, whose newest book “A New Way to Age” comes out in January, in front of their organic vegetable garden.

“I’m probably the only woman in Hollywood who’s enjoying aging,” she told page Six. “Nobody expects you to take your clothes off at 73. I’ve put a lot in naturally … I think [this picture] says that. It was a hot day and I wanted to take my shirt off.”
“I’m really happily married,” she said. “I’m in love … when you get to this age, love grows, it’s deeper … at this stage why not have fun? I’ve got him all juiced up on testosterone, I’m all juiced up on estrogen … it makes a difference! His skin is so good — he is sexy.”
Somers was reportedly set to see Bad Company play with Lynyrd Skynyrd on the following evening and planned to go to Malibu for two weeks, enjoying the first break from a book deadline that she has had in a year.
“Maybe I’ll take some more naked pics?” she wondered.
Obviously, the 73-year-old TV star got a lot of attention for her “birthday suit” photo, with some mixed reactions. She shared many of the reports on Twitter where the debate raged about whether she was too old to post a nude photo. Other fans cheered her on for being comfortable in her own skin.

Looks great to me. Takes a lot of pride and guts to display oneself in this manner. It’s her account to express herself as she pleases, don’t disparage her for her freedom of expression.
