‘Coward’ NBA coach Steve Kerr dodges question on China human rights abuses, trashes US instead

NBA star Steve Kerr, the head coach of the Golden State Warriors, suggested that the United States is no better than communist autocracy China when it comes to human-rights abuses.

Of course, Kerr neglects to mention that if he ever criticized China on Chinese soil, he’d be immediately thrown in jail or murdered.

Kerr made the shocking anti-American remarks while defending his reluctance to criticize China for censoring NBA officials and fans.

When asked if he ever thought about Chinese human-rights abuses, Kerr quipped: “No. Nor has our record of human rights abuses come up, either.”

Kerr said the Chinese media never asked him to condemn gun violence in the United States, so why should he condemn China’s long history of human rights abuses?

“People in China didn’t ask me about people owning AR-15s and mowing each other down in a mall [in the US],” Steve stammered.

As BizPacReview reported, President Trump mocked Steve Kerr, saying he acted like a scared “little boy” when asked if the Chinese were wrong to threaten the NBA after Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey innocuously tweeted support for the protesters in Hong Kong.

“I watched this guy, Steve Kerr,” Trump recalled. “He was like a little boy. He was so scared he was shaking. And yet he’ll talk about the United States very badly.”

President Trump was referencing a stunning interview with Kerr, when he meekly refused to criticize China’s brutal communist regime.

“It’s something I’m reading about, just like everybody is,” Kerr mumbled. “But I’m not going to comment further than that.”

The irony of Kerr refusing to comment on a political situation was laughable because he has been a frequent Trump critic.

Kerr has also repeatedly insisted that he’s more than just an NBA coach and former pro athlete, and even vowed to use his platform to speak out on political issues.

While Kerr and many of his NBA colleagues have trashed President Trump as authoritarian, they say nothing about China — which is an actual authoritarian dictatorship.

The brouhaha erupted last week when Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey tweeted: “Fight For Freedom. Stand With Hong Kong.”

The NBA folded like a cheap lawn chair after China threatened the league over this innocuous tweet.

The Chinese government was enraged by the innocuous tweet, so Chinese businesses began pulling their NBA sponsorships. In addition, Chinese broadcasters and streaming platforms threatened to stop airing NBA games.

The NBA responded by issuing a groveling apology to China, saying the league was “extremely disappointed” by Morey’s “regrettable” statement.

NBA stars have since refused to comment on China’s brutal regime, for fear of losing more sponsorship dollars.

Meanwhile, the Portland Trailblazers cut ties with a company that does business with Israel amid pressure from anti-Semitic activists.

The state-run China Daily newspaper gloated over the NBA’s cowardly submission, saying China taught the NBA a lesson.

Let’s hope the incident with Morey and the Houston Rockets will teach other companies a lesson. The big Chinese market is open to the world, but those who challenge China’s core interests and hurt Chinese people’s feelings cannot make any profit from it.”

An op-ed in the China Daily threw down the gauntlet, saying the United States (and the West) should watch out — because China’s dominance is inevitable.

“The balance of power is shifting, and those formerly brutalized by the colonialism and imperialism of the West are making their voices heard. Organizations accustomed to the unquestioned supremacy of Western opinion can either accept this fact and adapt to it or lose the support of entire peoples.”

So basically, China is telling the NBA to shut up and dribble. And the NBA dutifully caved to their demand.
