Impeachment fail: Nancy Pelosi’s strategy is weak, say experts

The media are gaslighting the public to convince them that the Democrats are on the road to impeaching President Trump soon. However, attorneys say Nancy Pelosi‘s impeachment strategy is toothless and weak.

Until the House of Representatives actually votes to impeach, nothing is happening. It’s all political theater to undermine Trump and pacify the far-left wing of the Democratic Party. That’s it.

CNN legal analyst Ross Garber — an impeachment attorney — mocked New York magazine for breathlessly tweeting that Pelosi’s brief presser yesterday means that she’ll pass articles of impeachment.

Garber tweeted: “Silly take. No. This isn’t how you’d do an impeachment process if you thought you’d actually impeach. You’d form a select committee or you’d staff up the Judiciary Committee.”

Ross Garber underscored that Pelosi’s political theatrics are merely a hollow gesture to mollify the far-left radicals in the Democratic Party.

“I couldn’t have designed a weaker [impeachment] process if I tried,” Garber tweeted. “No House resolution. Not following the Nixon or Clinton models. No pledge of additional staffing.”

Garber then tweeted headlines from the 1974 impeachment of Richard Nixon to show how Congress actually impeaches a president (instead of pretending they are, like today).

Similarly, Republican Congressman Doug Collins, an attorney, noted that Democrats are no closer to impeaching Trump than they were last week, last month, or last year.

Collins tweeted: “Speaker Pelosi’s decree changes absolutely nothing. Merely claiming the House is conducting an impeachment inquiry doesn’t make it so. Until the full House votes to authorize an inquiry, nobody is conducting a formal inquiry.”

Democratic Congressman Eliot Engel — an attorney and the chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee — agreed that nothing is happening.

Engel said that “although Pelosi has shifted her language, what House panels are doing is essentially the same as what they have been all along.”

Meanwhile, a new poll conducted by Politico and Morning Consult shows that there is no increased voter support for impeachment.

“Despite being a popular topic in the news, support for impeachment proceedings remains relatively unchanged in the past week,” pollster Tyler Sinclair told Politico.

Sinclair continued: “This week, 36% of registered voters, including 33% of Independents and 5% of Republicans, support impeachment. These numbers have remained steady over the summer, with little impact from the latest whistleblower complaint centered on Ukraine so far.”

In other words:

  • 67% of Independents oppose impeachment.
  • 64% of registered voters oppose impeachment.
  • 95% of Republicans oppose impeachment.

Keep in mind that the voters the Democrats want to sway with the impeachment rhetoric are Independents. And most of them (a whopping 67%) oppose impeachment. That is a huge uphill battle.

Pelosi is aware that most Americans do not want impeachment because they saw how it divided the nation when Republicans tried to impeach Bill Clinton. It wasted millions of dollars in taxpayer money and still failed to remove Clinton from office.

The strategy also backfired on Republicans, who were voted out in 2000 amid the GOP’s fervor to impeach Clinton.

Even if the Democrat-led House of Representatives voted to impeached President Trump, the Republican-led Senate would have to convict him before he’s impeached. And even if Trump were impeached, that doesn’t automatically lead to his removal.

Case in point: Democratic presidents Bill Clinton and Andrew Johnson were actually were impeached but weren’t removed from office. Why? Because their impeachment trials failed to gain a two-thirds majority vote in the Senate.

In fact, there has never been a U.S. president removed from office using the impeachment process. Pelosi knows this, and that’s why she has not asked the House to vote on this.

Nancy Pelosi does not have the votes to move forward with impeachment. Even if she did, it is a highly risky strategy that could blow up in Democrats’ faces.
