Sen. Lindsey Graham slammed the media while calling for the Justice Department to formally investigate the connection between former Vice President Joe Biden and the Ukraine.
The South Carolina Republican criticized the media’s handling of the controversy surrounding Biden and his son Hunter’s business in the Ukraine and said there is “enough smoke” to launch an inquiry into the matter on the level of the Russia probe into President Trump’s 2016 campaign.

“Here is what I’m calling for, calling for somebody in the Justice Department to look at all things Ukraine,” Graham told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo on “Sunday Morning Futures.”
“We looked at all things Russia and Trump, his family, everything about his family, every transaction between the Trump campaign and Russia,” he added, saying “now is the time” to look at “the Biden-Ukraine connection.”
“Can you imagine future presidents having a phone call with a foreign leader and winds up going to Congress, if that’s not executive privilege moment I don’t know, what would be,” Graham said.
He focused his remarks on the controversy surrounding a whistleblower complaint filed against President Trump alleging he made a “promise” to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as he urged him to investigate the younger Biden who, since 2014 when his father was vice president, served on the board of a gas company in the nation.
“Joe Biden said everybody’s looked at this and found nothing. Who is everybody? Nobody has looked at the Ukraine and the Bidens,” Graham said.
“There is enough smoke here,” he added. “Was there a relationship between the vice president’s family and the Ukraine business world that was inappropriate? I don’t know. Somebody other than me needs to look at it and I don’t trust the media to get to the bottom of it.”
Graham noted that an investigation should include whether there was any interference in the 2016 election by the Ukraine and if information was released about former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort who was convicted for tax and bank fraud as part of special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe.
The GOP senator blasted the media’s focus on Trump amid the controversy as Democrats have escalated calls for impeachment following the whistleblower complaint.
“They have done everything but turned the Trump world upside down,” he told Bartiromo.
“What I’m asking for is for us to take some time and effort to look at what the Ukraine may have done in the 2016 election, what role if any did the Bidens have with Ukraine, was it proper or was it not, I promise you the American media is not going to look at it, I’m hoping the department of justice will look at the Biden-Ukraine connection like we looked at the trump-Russia connection,” Graham said.
“The American media is trying to turn what was a Biden scandal into a Trump scandal,” Bartiromo interjected.
“I don’t know, somebody other than me needs to look at it and I sure as Hell don’t trust the media to get to the bottom of it,” Graham said.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi appeared to be giving in to pressure from her party’s left following a rebuke by Rep. Ocasi-Cortez over the weekend.
The California Democrat warned that a “whole new stage of investigation” could be coming as she called on lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to act in the wake of the administration blocking Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire from releasing the whistleblower document which reportedly related to the conversation between Trump and the leader of the Ukraine in July.

Ocasio-Cortez slammed leaders of her party in a tweet prior to Pelosi’s open letter Sunday.
At this point, the bigger national scandal isn’t the president’s lawbreaking behavior – it is the Democratic Party’s refusal to impeach him for it.

“Can you imagine if this was the Trump family doing business like this,” Graham asked Bartiromo on Sunday. “I like Joe Biden. I like him a lot. But you can’t have it both ways here.”
