Rep. Crenshaw has backup after progressive vets harass him then call him a coward

Rep. Dan Crenshaw called out a group of anti-Trump progressive veterans who harassed him in Congress and sparked backlash after posting a video of their confrontation.

The Texas Republican was caught on video by the veterans who call themselves “Common Defense,” as he was followed through the Cannon House Office Building on Thursday on his way to a vote.

“We need your leadership right now. How can you be complicit in this man’s crimes? It is immoral. It’s laid out clearly in the Mueller report,” one of the veterans said, walking briskly alongside the congressman in the video.

The group posted the video with the misleading caption that Crenshaw “hid in an elevator” when he was confronted, a move highly unlikely for the retired Navy SEAL lieutenant commander. Crenshaw served multiple tours of duty and lost his right eye in an injury sustained during an IED explosion in Afghanistan in 2012.

“As a fellow wounded veteran, how can you let him take us into another war?” one man asked the lawmaker who tried to respond but was constantly talked over.

“What war is he taking us into?” Crenshaw asked as the other veteran continued his rant.

“Iran,” the man replied.

“How are you going to just let him lock kids in cages? Like, come on, dude!” the first man exclaimed, clapping his hands together for emphasis.’

“You need to calm down,” Crenshaw told him.

“Are you kidding me?!” he shot back

“No,” the congressman said calmly.

“You need to get your courage back. C’mon,” the veteran continued badgering Crenshaw.

“Courage? You’re going to talk to me about courage?” the lawmaker fired back as they reached a ‘Members Only’ elevator. “You haven’t made one actual point.”

“Read the Mueller report!” was the response, to which Crenshaw retorted, “I’ve read the Mueller report. Have you?”

As he stepped into the elevator, one of the men stepped in as well, prompting Crenshaw to remind him he was not authorized to do so.

“You got to make your video. You didn’t come here to have a conversation,” Crenshaw said as he pushed the button and the door began to close. The other man joined them and the harassment of the Texas congressman continued.

“You’re going to let a criminal get away with our democracy,” one of them said.

You repeating things is not a conversation,” Crenshaw quipped before getting out at his destination and walking away.

The men, identified by the Washington Examiner as U.S. Army veterans, Jason Hurd and Alan Pitts, continued shouting at the lawmaker’s back.

Common Defense posted the encounter with the contention that Crenshaw “hid” in the elevator,  refusing to have a conversation with them. Just as shameful was the Newsweek headline on the story which read: “GOP Rep. Dan Crenshaw tries to hide in elevator while confronted by combat veterans over his support for Trump: ‘Do your duty.'”

“Republican congressman Dan Crenshaw unsuccessfully tried to lose two combat veterans by ducking into a private elevator as they confronted him about his support for President Donald Trump in Washington, D.C. on Thursday,” Newsweek “reported.”

The publication also falsely claimed that the congressman “attempted to close the elevator door with Hurd still inside, but Pitts quickly reopened it. Crenshaw then left the elevator without riding it and stormed away.”

The disrespectful confrontation by the progressive veterans was slammed by those who actually watched the video on social media.
